2 days to go | CARIFTA team gets phones from Flow

Flow Marketing and Communications Manager, Nadia James-Harris with this year’s CARIFTA Games national team.

The 12-member team that will be representing the BVI at this year’s CARIFTA Games has received smartphones from telecommunications giant, Flow.

The telecoms company presented the devices to BVI Athletics Association (BVIAA) President, Steve Augustine on Monday during a press conference by the Association.

Flow made the donation ahead of the Games, which officially start on Friday and culminates on April 2.

The national CARIFTA team comprises under-17 athletes Xiomara Malone, Akrisa Eristee, Zara Brown, Malik John and Jaleel Croal; as well as under-20 athletes Beyonce Defreitas, Arianna Hayde, Akira Phillip, Rikkoi Brathwaite, Joshua Hill, and Diamante and Djimon Gumbs.

Marketing and Communications Manager at Flow BVI, Nadia James-Harris said the company donated smart devices to the team as part of their commitment to local and regional athletics.

“I know that we will be adding a few more names after this year’s Games … Flow is investing in Caribbean dreams as the best and brightest of you put on a dazzling display of talent. We at Flow BVI are confident that you will go ‘faster, further, higher’ and make us all proud,” she said.

CARIFTA watch party

While sports fans await the start of the competition that is two days away, Flow has organised a CARIFTA Games watch party at Captain Mulligan’s Sports Bar in Nanny Cay on Sunday, April 1.

The watch party will begin at 4pm and will feature the afternoon session of the Games.

The BVI is expected to compete in the Discus and Javelin throw, the 200 and 400-metre events, as well as the Long, and High Jump events.
