Another earthquake felt in BVI
Sections of the British Virgin Islands experienced a relatively minor earthquake this morning (June 25), a few minutes after 7 o’clock.
Preliminary information from the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) said the tremor was a 3.4 magnitude earthquake.
The DDM also said the earthquake had a recorded depth of 48 miles.
The epicentre of the tremor was located 19.8 miles north-northwest of Road Town.
The reported last significantly-felt tremor shook the territory on April 6. That earthquake had a magnitude of 4.7.
What to do during an earthquake
Residents are advised to remain calm during an earthquake.
Persons who are are indoors during a tremor are advised to stay there and move away from objects that may fall such as ceiling fans, glass windows and doors.
Experts advise that persons indoors get under a desk or sturdy piece of furniture, cover their head and hold on. If outdoors, persons are advised to move into an open area away from trees, building, or utility wires and poles.
