Magistrate’s Court

A brother-sister altercation that unfolded last year has left one sibling with injuries and the other facing criminal charges.

Charged with assault causing actual bodily harm is Ronni David of Fort Hill, Tortola.

He pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared before Magistrate Ayanna Baptiste DaBreo this month.

Reports are that, on August 19 last year, the sister was at a residence she shares with her brother.

They had a verbal altercation, which escalated into a physical one.

It is reported that David, during the argument, fisted his sister and caused ‘severe injuries to the face’.

She also sustained injuries to her upper limbs and extremities, the court heard.

The prosecution told the court that, when police were called to the scene, the sister was unable to communicate with them as a result of her injuries.

When the offender was ordered to attend counselling sessions, he told the court that he already worked things out with his sibling. He added that he is already enrolled in a counselling programme.

While noting that counselling can never be too much, the magistrate ordered David to also attend the Partnership for Peace Programme.
