Former hospital worker gets $45K bail

Former hospital worker Kindel Vanterpool has finally been called before the Magistrate’s Court to answer to an assault occasioning actual bodily harm charge.

Vanterpool, who is accused of beating a female patient who reportedly insulted him, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

He will stand trial on September 19.

The prosecution however claimed that Vanterpool, in an interview with police, admitted to hitting the woman.

Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards granted him $45,000 bail, and ordered him to get anger management counselling at the Family Support Network.

The 31-year-old Georges Northside resident is being represented by attorney-at-law Stephen Daniels.

Allegations are that, on November 4 last year, the female complainant in the matter visited the government-owned Peebles Hospital to get medication.

In order to get the medication, she was required to interact with Vanterpool, who was working as a cashier in the pharmacy at the time.

When she visited the pharmacy, she and Vanterpool had an altercation.

The patient complained about the lengthy wait to collect the medication.

The prosecution further told the court that the woman disparagingly questioned Vanterpool’s competence.

Vanterpool left his work station and approached the woman, the court heard. He allegedly braced his body against the woman’s in a threatening manner.

It is further alleged that Vanterpool fisted the woman multiple times in the face and shoulder, and had to be restrained by two persons.

He then left the area, the court heard.
