Fashion was served ‘sizzling’ hot at Global Glamour Runway Show at the weekend.
Thirteen designers, 10 of whom are known internationally, showcased their latest work to a well-attended gathering at Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff’s Bottom, Tortola.
Designers such as Gustavo Moscoso, Cesar Galindo, Yumi Katsura, Roger Gary, Christina Goddard, Andrew Nowell, Toni Whitaker, Pri-vi-lege, Nikini Resortwear, K Rose Carlton Jones and Edwing D’Angelo put their respective clothing lines on exhibit and gave patrons a show to remember.
Local designers – Kristin Frazer and Germain Smith – also proved capable of holding their own among their international counterparts.
Despite a few technical difficulties mid-way during the show, attendees say the event deserved high praises.
Saturday’s Global Glamour Runway Show was part of the 10th annual Summer Sizzle event, which started on Thursday, July 26 with a Hurricane Relief Community Service programme.
According to event organiser Terry Donovan, the programme saw volunteers including models, designers, and celebrities embarking on a clean-up exercise in the Cane Garden Bay and Long Bay communities.
Later that day, this year’s top graduates of Elmore Stoutt High School – including valedictorian Beyonce Defreitas – were gifted with a makeover from Summer Sizzle’s ‘glam squad’.
On Friday, July 27, at least 20 secondary school students and adults from the Virgin Islands Schools of Technical Studies in Baugher’s Bay benefitted from a workshop on fashion hairstyling, makeup and photography.
The heart of Summer Sizzle kicked off later that day at the JY Harbour View Marina for an event dubbed White & Wakanda Fashion Gala.
Summer Sizzle BVI culminated on Sunday with a sailing excursion and beach BBQ on Virgin Gorda.
