Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards yesterday cautioned Chavez Henley – a bartender who deals with tourists – to be particularly mindful of his temper.

She did so while she fined Henley a total of $750 for losing his temper back in 2015 while he served tourists, and for threatening an auxiliary police officer to whom the tourists had complained.

“The way you dealt with the situation I thought was uncalled for… Watch your temper, Mr Henley,” Senior Magistrate Richards cautioned.

During a previous court appearance, she had ordered Henley to get anger management counselling.

While making that order in November last year, the senior magistrate also said: “He (Henley) has to get help with his short fuse because he’s dealing with tourists… He has to go to anger management.”

A break-down of the fine imposed on Henley yesterday shows him being asked to pay $250 for using threatening language, and $500 for using indecent language. He will spend a total of 60 days in prison if the fines are not paid.

Details of the case are that on February 10, 2015 Henley and two tourists at Cane Garden Bay beach had a quarrel over the cost of drinks.

The tourists sought the assistance of an auxiliary police officer who was on duty at the time.

It is further reported that, when the auxiliary officer approached the seemingly angry bartender, he tried to insult her.

“You are a f*** crossing guard. Go back to the school children and direct them across the road. I ain’t fraid of any of you, I will shoot up all you mother s***t,” Henley reportedly said.

He continued to jeer the auxiliary officer, the court heard. “You is a crossing guard and I will spell my name for you C-H-A-V-E-Z HENLEY!”

Henley was eventually charged.
