A man, who was beaten and hospitalised for allegedly attempting the rob a business establishment at the weekend, reportedly evaded police custody but has since been recaptured.
The accused thief is now receiving medical treatment back at the state-owned Peebles Hospital and is in stable condition, BVI News understands.
It is reported that the accused man attempted to rob an establishment in Long Bush, Tortola on Friday night, June 29.
The accused is said to have been armed, BVI News understands.
It is further understood that, during the alleged robbery, the accused man was overpowered and beaten by persons who were in the establishment, at the time.
He reportedly suffered injuries about his body.
Police were subsequently summoned and the man brought to hospital for treatment.
It is said the man tried to escape through a window while in custody at the medical facility.
It is not clear whether he has been charged.
