More than 99% of Tortola, VG now covered – DIGICEL

Digicel today announced the completion of its 4G LTE network upgrade, adding that the development has increased its coverage to more than 99 percent of the population in Tortola and Virgin Gorda – the most populated islands in the British Virgin Islands (BVI).

The company further said there is improvement in parts of Norman Island, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada.

Its 4G LTE expansions include the deployment of 14 new sites, upgrade to all existing 4G sites, and increased transmission to all sites – all of which will facilitate better data capacity and faster speeds.

“This means customers will enjoy a better experience when browsing their favourite websites, streaming content, and sharing their most memorable moments – all at blazing fast speeds,” Digicel said.

Its General Manager Kevin Gordon added: “We are committed to bringing the amazing benefits of LTE to as many people as possible across BVI.”

“Now that our LTE network is complete, our focus is network optimisation to ensure our customers are always having the best experience possible to stream, play and share more with today’s technology,” Gordon further said.

In January, Digicel first launched LTE with 74 percent population coverage, offering what the company described as lightning-fast speeds.

“Since then, customer satisfaction have increased significantly, confirming that the people of BVI are enjoying the amazing speeds of the service,” the company said.

Its general manager further explained: “To ensure we continue delivering the best service, we have been actively taking feedback from customers about their experience, and making the necessary adjustments as we go along. We are committed to continue responding to queries quickly – so we encourage everyone to keep feedback coming.”

According to Digicel, prepaid and postpaid customers can access its 4G LTE service by using LTE compatible device and SIM card.
