Showers and thunderstorms to continue today

Coming out of relatively heavy rainfall Wednesday night, the British Virgin Islands is forecast to experience more “unsettled” atmospheric conditions as a tropical wave lingers in the area Thursday, August 30.

The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) said the day’s weather is forecast to be “mostly cloudy showers and thunderstorms”.

The territory can also expect the possibility of 10 to 20 millimetres of rain, DDM said.

A small craft warning is still in effect as seas are expected to produce wave heights of five to six feet.

Winds will be around 19 to 33 kilometres per hour with “strong gusts at times”, the DDM said.

These wet and windy conditions have come as the BVI moves deeper into the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
