16 counts of theft! Woman accused of taking funds from bank account

BVI News understands that a member of the Virgin Islands Festival & Fairs Committee — 45-year-old Luz Sanchez — has been charged for taking funds from someone else’s local bank account.

According to a report from the police, the woman was charged with 16 counts of theft and one count of forgery.

The police also said investigations continue so no further details could be released. However, highly placed sources told our news centre that the woman was arrested for alleged unauthorised access to bank account in question. .

The victim reportedly found out that several thousands was missing from his account after he did a routine check. The alleged victim then alerted the bank and maintained that no one else had permission to withdraw funds from his account.

It’s not clear how the accused woman gained access to the funds but sources say the money was withdrawn from an ATM.

The official statement from the police said she is set to appear in court today to answer to the charges against her. The police also said the charges laid in relation to this incident underscore their commitment to addressing criminal activities swiftly and thoroughly.

What does this have to do with the Festival Committee? Were the funds drawn from a Festival Committee account? If there is no other connection other than her being a member, why mention it? There are many other connections that could have been used to identify. I really dislike how media sources drop in details that seem to have nothing to do with the story in order to keep rumour mills churning.

  4. My goodness. 16 Counts? says:

Sticky fingers have struck again. Not good. When were they going to stop?

Now how can someone allegedly stole about 16 times and the alleged victim did not notice the missing funds earlier?

Everyday I check my bank accounts because I don’t don’t trust the banks to watch over the limited money I place there to conduct busines. I see these banks as legally sanctioned thieves and bank cautiously.

People need to watch their bank accounts like a hawk even if you have 2 cents in there.

Was the victim asleep at the wheel?

It does my heart good to see that two so called men can’t keep off each other. The UK goverment is trying to legalize my kind of relationships so our union can have full support.

Oh dear Luz Sanchez. Once upon a time, you were such the model employee. I could see your change just prior to R taking over from S. Now you walk the path of shame forevermore. It’s funny you know how life is all about the decisions each of us make. Back to the DR for you.

How come BP don’t treat theft by employees the same way and turn matters over to the police?

It’s like they don’t believe the customers even when the customers present a mountain of evidence. So what happens is that the customers end up losing tens of thousands of dollars they had in Banco.

I’ll be happy if this customer gets back all their money from this unfortunate situation.
