Police have confirmed that the cocaine seized in Cane Garden Bay on Saturday amounted to more 500 kilograms.

The drugs were found in 18 duffle bags inside the vehicle of 39-year-old taximan, Paul Hodge of the aforesaid community.

He has now been charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

Following the bust, Police Commissioner Michael Matthews enforced the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force’s ‘war on drugs’.

“We remain committed to the battle to make it difficult for those who want to use the Territory as a transhipment point for illicit drugs. It is a war that we must continue to wage and win, in order to maintain our enjoyed level of security and safety both in our waters and on land. There can be no compromise, no middle ground,” Matthews said.

  1. State sponsored drug nation says:

It is now clear that this is a state sponsored activity as these drugs came in during the lock-down with barges controlling our borders… Now that BVI is a formal Narco State can we please get the UK to come in and sort this mess out?

    • GTFOH says:

The mighty British Navy would have prevented cocaine from entering the territory. Nobody has ever successfully smuggled cocaine in the UK. Many have tried but they all have failed. By the way if what Meghan Markle said was true if the Royals were concerned about how dark the son of Prince Harry would get imagine what they think about our black @$$.

  5. Really Everyone knows... says:

There were at least 50+ go fast boats at The Sand Box on Sunday. Where is all this money coming from? How when there are no jobs no tourism are people able to somehow buy these boats? It should be pretty easy to find out who owns one and has no job to find out what they are really doing. The boats are probably not registered, but parked on every corner. They race across the North Sound for money everyone knows about it where are the police?

  7. Drugs says:

It’s a market in us and Europe driving drug sales. Not much else to do in BVI but bus tables and get lucky with a bank or law gig. From 40,000 ‘, can you really give smugglers sh— for this industry? They got marooned on an island 100,s of years back and have to make ends meet. Here’s a biz. 1st world should legalize and regulate. More money and lives wrecked from the war on drugs than the drugs themselves on the ppl
