$247K to furnish Finance Ministry

The government has awarded a contract valuing just under a quarter-million dollars to furnish the Ministry of Finance’s offices located at RFG Place on Waterfront Drive in Road Town.

This $247,871.7 contract was awarded to Island Services (BVI) Ltd.

Cabinet awarded the contract on the recommendation of the Central Tenders Board’s technical sub-committee.

The specific terms of the agreement are for Island Services to both supply and install the furniture, a Cabinet decision document on its May 28 meeting released last week stated.

During that meeting, Cabinet also reviewed and considered the strategic plan for delivery of the House of Assembly Reconfiguration Project which is estimated to cost more than $100,000.

The Cabinet decided that the project should be implemented using a series of petty contracts in accordance with the strategic plan presented.

The decision document did not specify what the reconfiguration project was.

and yet they spend little to no money on education and the health care system. Not even the infrastructure of the BVI being taken care of.

The VIP is trying to show the UK I can do what I want and you cant stop me this is crazy. The government is spending money like crazy and they are under investagation go figure. I cant to see the outcome of this, if its anything less than a take over then the COI was a wase of time.

Wouldn’t that money be better spent on helping those most vulnerable during this pandemic or to adjust the cost of testing for the virus? The country is in a lockdown, so who will see these furnishing? Do these furnishings include a commercial size copier, so the COI can get the copies that he requested?

Ok this is just ridiculous. How big is the office of the ministry of finance and what portion of that budget is actually being spent on furniture. If the ministry of finance itself cannot procure a sensible deal, then the problem speaks for itself.

How about more equipment, space, and personnel to deal with the pandemic of covid-19 which is huge in this country. The money would be best spent on this.
