37 now dead from COVID in the BVI

Thirty-seven persons have been confirmed dead in the BVI because of COVID-19.

This latest statistic on COVID fatalities in the territory represents an increase of roughly a half-dozen more persons.

According to the Health Ministry’s epidemiological summary dated August 5, the BVI continues to see a decline in active COVID-19 cases.

There are currently 441 active cases in the BVI. Fourteen of those cases are on marine vessels, 389 are on Tortola, 28 are on Virgin Gorda, six are on Jost Van Dyke and the remain four have been recorded on Anegada.

In the meantime, the number of fully vaccinated persons in the territory now stands at 12,187. Another 4,403 persons in the BVI are partially vaccinated.

    So sad.

And all preventable by taking a vaccine. But no one to blame but themselves.

That epidemiological survey was produced by a marketing and communications specialist, not by an epidemiologist.

Furthermore, those surveys look more like posters than an actual assessment of data.

I for one do not trust these figures. Why the long delays in announcing them? Why the obscure and casual ways of announcing them. ? Can it be right for Malone to go on these “ radio shows “ and casually drop numbers out before any official announcement?

This really is Micky Mouse government.

Is it normal for 36 people to die in a month in the BVI. I think all the antivax comments being spouted around please can you let me know why this is a normal about of people to die in a month.
The government has done everything it can to protect the people of the BVI. But they need to open to protect the economy and businesses. Lots of people are hurting but ignoring the facts that this kills people is just plain ignorance.
COVID is not going anywhere soon so we have to live along side it and protect ourselves.

Hey Rubber Dick, i for one do not care if you do not trust this figure (37 dead). But i tell you this IT IS REAL. Condolences to the family of those 37. This is preventable if they are not misinformed.

  4. End of Season says:

The yachting season has come to an end. A lot of those vaxxed people are leaving the territory until the next season starts – if they decide to come back at all. It’s very difficult to get a true picture of what percentage of the permanent population is actually vaccinated. Government may have to take the unpopular decision to deny work permits/renewals to those who are not vaccinated, in order to be in a position to fully open up the territory.

    • WP holder says:

Having full vaccination as a condition of a new or renewed work permit would not be unpopular. Most permit holders are already vaccinated and those who are not (unless for a medical condition confirmed by a BVI doctor) are not needed in the BVI. By insisting on proof of vaccination for a new or renewed permit, this improves the health quality of the territory.

This is by far the most convincing documentary on the subject matter. The doctor is credible and his accomplishments are note worthy. I have long suspected this pandemic to be a set up for sinister things to come.

      COVID-19 misinformation
McCullough testified before a committee of the Texas Senate in March 2021, posted to YouTube by the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, in which he made false claims about COVID-19 and COVID-19 vaccines, including that person under 50 years of age and survivors do not need the vaccine and that there is no evidence of asymptomatic spread.[21]

McCullough gave an interview in May 2021, posted on Rumble, in which he made claims about COVID-19 and COVID-19 vaccines which were “inaccurate, misleading and/or unsupported by evidence,” including that survivors cannot be re-infected and so do not require vaccination and that the vaccine is dangerous.[22]

In an interview on the Fox News program Tucker Carlson Tonight in May 2021, McCullough claimed that hydroxychloroquine is effective for treating COVID-19.[22] McCullough later made appearances on the Fox News program The Ingraham Angle; McCullough contradicted public health recommendations, for example when asked about the aggressive spread of COVID-19 among children, by suggesting that people under 30 had no need for a vaccine,[23][42] and by disputing the necessity of vaccination to achieve herd immunity, claiming “natural” (survivor) immunity is superior.[18][43][44]

The point is that they would have gone on living with these illnesses had they not caught Covid. It was catching Covid that killed them.

I hope people from BVI will say, “I’m not going to take any of these lies and misinformation about COVID-19 and the vaccines, I’m seeing everybody around me get sick and dying. Let me just go ahead and get vaccinated.'”

    The facts are:

    1) One will catch covid even if vaccinated.

    2) One can and will pass it on to others even if vaccinated.

    3) One can and will die from covid related effects even if vaccinated.

I am a US Citizen and a ‘former’ frequent visitor to the BVI. We have spent $1000’s on your tourism business and would like to spend more. However, the BVI is still in constant ‘panic’ mode over Covid. Until the BVI learns to ‘live with’ Covid like every other virus, your island will perish (sadly). TEN years from now, this site will be reporting Covid deaths (and yes, even from people who have been vaccinated). Please stop with the constant and endless FEAR of Covid. Encourage your government to OPEN back up 100% because if you have no life left to provide for your family after trying to get Covid cases to “0” (which will never happen) then what are you all trying to accomplish?
