75% complete | Enis Adams Primary on schedule for September reopening

Work on the new Enis Adams Primary School building is moving full speed ahead and is likely to be ready well in advance of the start of the 2019 academic year.

With 42 workmen currently employed to the project, foreman Webster Baptiste told BVI News: “We will meet our target.”

“We have seven classrooms on the ground floor, and all are completed. So far, we have almost all the windows in, and we are just waiting for the doors to arrive,” he added.

He also said floor tiling is underway.

“We are about 75 per cent complete,” he said of the entire operation.

“We only got hiccups when we were doing the foundation with the rain, but different to that, we have been going smoothly since January,” Baptiste further said.

The school’s 30-year-old infrastructure was compromised by the 2017 disasters.

As part of the plan, there will be laboratories, lecture rooms, an auditorium, a meeting hall, as well as a classroom for children with autism and special needs.

Founder and former majority owner of RoadTown Wholesale, Peter Haycraft, is funding the rebuilding of the Meyers-based educational facility.

A donor stepped forward to help after the hurricane and o classify that as the government failing to do? Are you serious? What is wrong with us?

They failed. Why if funds were available repairing our schools was not a priority. Why the donor stepped up before our Government? Clearly the donors priority is better than ours. Now we hear of $5 million unbudgeted funds for election road works. Some of you can’t handle the truth.

The Building is very big. Now this is a school. I pray hard and deep that the Maintenance of the Facility stays Optimal and not fall into Politics. This is a very good time for the Government to allow the principal to fully manage the school along with a board.
