8 suspected looters arrested

Road Town Police Station

The police today arrested eight persons on suspicion of looting.

Governor Augustus Jaspert made the disclosure in a media release this afternoon, warning also that there will be a zero-tolerance approach to crime.

“…In the course of police operations today, the police have arrested eight persons on suspicion of looting. They remain in custody awaiting court processes,” said Governor Jaspert.

“We continue to take a zero-tolerance approach to crime, and [the] police will be actively protecting the public and property.”

He said additional security personnel have been deployed throughout the territory to maintain law and order.

“I want to assure you that law and order will be maintained. Additional police and security forces were pre-deployed and are out in force.”

“Let us continue to be resilient and united as we work together to rebuild the Virgin Islands,” the Governor urged.
