Adaejah Hodge gets support amid news of past doping ban
Sprint sensation Adaejah Hodge is receiving a wave of support from fans after reports resurfaced about a past anti-doping sanction, even as the BVI athlete continues to deliver dominant performances on the United States collegiate track circuit.
According to the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), Hodge was handed a two-year ban after testing positive for a prohibited metabolic modulator during the World Athletics U20 Championships held in Lima, Peru.
Samples collected on August 28, 2024, revealed the presence of metabolites of GW501516 — a substance banned at all times under rules set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Following an investigation, Hodge admitted to violating an anti-doping rule.
However, anti-doping authorities concluded that the ingestion of the substance was not intentional.
Under a case resolution agreement between the AIU and WADA, Hodge received a two-year period of ineligibility beginning August 2024. Because she provided what authorities described as “substantial assistance” during the investigation, seven months of the sanction were waived, allowing her to return to competition on January 28, 2026.
The ruling also resulted in the disqualification of her results between August 28 and November 22, 2024, including the loss of her medals from the 2024 World Junior Championships — where she had captured gold in the 200 metres and silver in the 100 metres.
Despite the setback, Hodge has since returned to the track and is quickly regaining her reputation as one of the region’s most exciting sprint talents. Competing on the U.S. collegiate circuit this season, the BVI athlete has been posting blistering performances, drawing attention for her speed and strong finishes against experienced competitors.
Strong fan support
The renewed spotlight on the doping case has sparked heated reactions online, with many supporters criticising track news outlets for highlighting the issue just as the young athlete begins to rebuild momentum in her career.
One commenter questioned the timing of the reports, stating that the incident occurred “close to two years ago” and suggesting the issue had already been resolved.
Another supporter wrote that the athlete had “served her time”, while a different commenter argued that the story was being circulated now only because Hodge is currently winning races.
Others defended the sprinter more passionately, insisting she had proven her ability since returning to competition and urging critics to allow her to move forward.
At the same time, some observers noted that doping cases can have long-lasting reputational effects in the sport, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the violation.
The controversy also comes against the backdrop of a separate investigation involving Hodge’s former coach at Montverde Academy, Gerald Phiri, who was provisionally suspended in 2025 after multiple athletes tested positive for the same banned substance. The AIU also alleged additional anti-doping rule violations against Phiri, including possession of banned substances and failure to cooperate with investigators.
For now, however, many fans appear focused on Hodge’s return to form, with supporters rallying behind the BVI sprinter as she continues her comeback on the collegiate track scene.

One thing we are good at in BVI is that we are happy to turn a blind eye when people make errors.
Fraud, corruption and now doping.
Sure, let’s keep the support up.
We don’t need exemplary role models.
Always get the full details and facts before making such erroneous statements about people’s livelihoods, especially an up-and-coming star for our nation. We are sometimes the weapon formed against our own…smh
One thing we are good at in the BVI Is jumping to conclusions after reading the first 5 words in a news story.
If you actually read/looked into the story you’d see that a coach was doping the athletes without their knowledge.
maybe we need to shame ppl who like talk before they think.
She is responsible for what went into her body. She cheated and got caught. Simple as that!
Adaejah, keep shining. This is a lesson that many athletes learn – it’s not always good to trust your coach, be careful what u eat and take as pain meds. The BVI is behind you. This is just a bump in the road. Keep blazing that trail of excellence
She admitted to taking the drugs, therefore she had full knowledge of what was given to her. She is not innocent! She wanted fame and went to any lengths to get it.
Those two records and medals she won need to be stripped from her because the drugs are still in her body.
Not all but a substantial percentage of the drugs used to enhance performance can cause life long changes , a single course can produce enhanced development that then your body permanently remembers . You can then stop taking whatever and confidently pass any testing procedures and claim your clean, become a potential winner and have your fame and fortune.
The side effects are also long term they can lead to a premature death Flow Jo as an example. Is it worth it , once caught they’re always going to be viewed with suspicion along with their so called medals and records by their peers & sporting public alike.
Ntn wrong with a lil doping . dope run in we vi veins. just ask we business men
keep your head up girl
An unfortunate choice of words . Shining is the term used by lance Armstrong in his book & his doping team doctor to describe the length of time any illegal substances in their team were still detectable if tested outside of competition . They had to avoid being tested because they were still shining.
Sad, how far and what they mind will go and do while pretending to be when unintentional annd clean when caught.
Unintentionality does not give or produce such muscular benefits over night. That is a known fact.
Indeed, the carpet, house, car and bank account would have been rolled out had the fox gotten all the grapes.
Everyone, just like the sleazy politicians, desire immediate riches in this era.
Same thing uncle was giving Actspectation for years
That child had no clue of what was going on around her/ them. she is the best ATHLETE the BVI have at the moment and she will always rise above the talk.
That little girl change the whole Athletic performance in the BVI. I’m not from the BVI, I’m from St.Lucia you all need to give her more respect we treat our Athletes with high quality respect.
The coach now put that school in plenty problems and now the pay outs will be great because those schools are high quality schools. Parents becareful with your children around these coaches, Teachers ect. She’s not the first this happen to and she won’t be the last. Remember she was under age. Doping is very common in the US but also remember she was always and is great ATHLETE.
She is just one out of the 4 and more is behind that
Had she not performed the way she did this past week you would not have heard of that ban but lil black successful girl from Tortola. Let’s put it out there. 1984. Vanessa Williams Ms.Universe. Too good for a black woman. White man dug up nude pix and shared with the world. Who give Adagah performing enhancing drugs unknown to her should be in jail and banned from track for life.I say what I say.
Her family lied and said she wasn’t running because she was injured and she lied when was at home when she said low iron. Now the truth is out and they’re saying old news when it was just publicized two days ago (obviously they would know before and kept in under wraps)…She’s not liked by several athletes and her and her team are an untrustworthy bunch and that’s why she is only liked and reported on by the Sportsman. More will be unfolding.
Disguised name track mom seems as if you have a child tracking and they can’t make the grade don’t be so envious about a little child and saying she not like by several athletes can’t be in the British Virgin Islands because where she’s at you can’t make that grade.
A lot more things will be unfolding so keep your fingers on your key board.
Some of the coaches on these track clubs
here envy her because I can’t understand she’s not like by other athletes who even don’t know her. Girl keep shining we love it.
Congrats Record Braker

Talk that. Add Carl Lewis to the list.
Adaejah is an excellent athlete and the best the BVI has seen in a very long time. She still has more to give. But the news on her ban should have been told when it occurred instead of hiding it or lying about it, why she could not compete. I wondered why she was not running or competing and now I know why as it has been uncovered disgracefully by persons with ill intentions. It is nothing to be shameful about as it was not her fault. The coach is just wicked to do that to those athletes at that school. But God is good and she has return way better.
She was not ban she was suspended for something be on her control. The case was in the hands of the court why you think her family should of break the news. It was a case for the AIU not her family.
It’s over now and she will continue breaking records for us.She’s all we have at the moments. Just stop the BS. I think her pay out will help them fix the track.
Happy Birthday Record Braker
