“All 13 Must Go” movement picks up traction

A grassroots political movement calling for a complete reset of elected leadership in the BVI is gaining momentum in local social media circles, reflecting what supporters describe as deepening public frustration with governance across the territory.

The movement, known as All 13 Must Go, is active on both Facebook and Instagram, where engagement levels suggest growing interest as the BVI heads toward its next general election, constitutionally due in 2027.

On Facebook, the group’s page shows more than 800 likes and over 840 followers, with a steady stream of reels and posts highlighting community concerns ranging from deteriorating road conditions and public infrastructure to cost-of-living pressures and perceived government inaction. Several of the short-form videos have attracted hundreds to thousands of views, indicating strong engagement relative to the size of the territory.

Meanwhile, the movement’s Instagram account has published well over 1,000 posts and has amassed more than 1,200 followers, featuring a mix of text-based graphics, photographs, and videos that openly criticise the political status quo. Many of the posts use blunt messaging and visuals to argue that longstanding problems in the BVI persist because of repeated leadership failures, with the central call being that all 13 elected representatives should be replaced at the next polls.

No clear leader

The movement’s leaders remain unclear, with no named figures publicly attached to its organisation. Instead, the pages present the initiative as a collective voice for ordinary residents, urging followers to demand better governance and accountability from those seeking office.

Political observers say the online traction reflects a wider undercurrent of dissatisfaction among some sections of the population, particularly over issues that have remained unresolved across multiple administrations. The consistent interaction on the pages suggests the message is resonating, especially among voters who feel that incremental change has not delivered meaningful results.

Amid the movement’s popularity, some pundits have argued that while reform is necessary, a wholesale removal of all sitting legislators could be counterproductive. They point to the importance of institutional knowledge, experience, and continuity in navigating complex policy areas, managing public finances, and maintaining relationships with regional and international partners.

As political discourse increasingly shifts to online platforms, the All 13 Must Go movement continues to pick up traction in social circles in the BVI with some supporters spotted wearing T-shirts bearing the movement’s name in recent weeks. Whether the momentum will translate into organised political action or electoral change remains to be seen, but the movement’s popularity underscores a broader debate now unfolding across the BVI about leadership, trust, and the future direction of the territory.

    Agreed all should go.
the leaders now are acting like they are politicians in a big country, flying around the world. BVI is the size of a small town, we should have no problem fixing our little country with the money coming in without putting ourselves in debt. we need Hospitals, Clinics, Schools fixed. Roads, water electricity and only then can you start acting like a real country.

If all 13 were to go, who or what would take their place, some thought needs to be given to this. One option might be a four year transitional government from the UK, in that time they could fix the roads, hospitals, water and sewage whilst training a new set of local talent to take over in four years. Have the UK as one of the voters options at the next election.

This set is a disaster by every measure. But all governments are the same in that when you give an inch, they take a mile. “Transitional” will become permanent…

Can the trolls down in the white house blogging please stop! Transitional Government didn’t work so well in Turks and Caicos, well other than uniting the Govt. and Opposition against them. VI voters can and must elect ppl to properly represent the interests of the VI and its ppl.

Well, firstly the T&C had a very different set of problems to the BVI. Secondly; this commenter would suggest that we have proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that we are incapable of running this territory ourselves with the incumbent group of politicians. Now unless you can drag up 13 totally political talent which is highly unlikely, the UK seems a very good interim answer.

You for got the “big Greedy Bill” engineered under their former leader.

This is one of the openly, greediest and arrogant with it government ever elected in Virgin Islands history.

And they will be seeking their path back into the government coffers again. The people must decide against that.

This is not any darned movement. No more than Mica Barry was. No way in hades will all 13 go and nor should we want all 13 to go. None have done anything egregious the past 3 years. The political party shifting and firing and rehiring has been very bad for our stability. Yes I agree. Bank of Asia debacle which is 3 times as bad as the airplane and wall issues combined must be investigated and punished as necessary. Our system is what needs to go! No way should someone who barely won 57% of his district or 487 votes, become the Leader of the country of 30,000 people. We did not vote for him! not even .02% of the population voted for this Premier. The problem is in our system not these 13 people. At-Large should be Ministers and the Premier and Deputy should come from the At-Large group. They represent a greater percentage of the population.

Do not throw out the baby with the dirty bath water!

The current party has made the BVI very unstable for sure. All 13 will not go; some will but not necessarily for any of the 13 and they can pay off whomever they want.

  7. The party says:

This Chalwell them party. All of the newly elected 13 if they were successful would be accountable to the chalwell family who is allegedly funding their campaign. Puppet politicians they will all be.

    • Yes it that family says:

      Hiding behind darkness

They not one bit better than the thirteen . They despise people who do not have their roots here

They treat people like dirt and feel they are better than poor people
Do not be fooled 6 of one half dozen of the next

They do not mingle with the local
      Population

  8. Anonymous says:

Well the previous governments give the chalwell them breakfast, lunch and because they didn’t get the dinner salad all 13 must go. Bear in mind, they got they got the dinner and got mad because the salad was missing . Greed

  9. Eldread says:

Sowandie facial premiere expression! Mehson I have the greedy bill covering me and don’t care.

  10. My Opinion says:

The bar is set really low in the BVI. How is it these man can promise you the same things for 8 years straight and still cant deliver and you still turn around and vote for them again! How can you have a whole career in politics and don’t have nothing notable to credit to your name and still be considered a success and get to travel up and down and entitled to exorbitant retirement package when you leave!

  11. @ Common Sense says:

It really seems Like Common Sense aint Common anymore. You Made My Heart Bleed Today when I read your Blog. So only 13 people make up this territory’s Population? I Cried when I Read your Blog. Flowing Tears. You Barnya???

    • Common sense says:

Then you really are not on top of the situation. You can’t resolve a technical problem with an emotional answer, and crying is exactly that. For once could get something useful out of the UK rather than unwanted attention. Who knows, they may even bring a cheque book.

  12. Simple says:

I don’t agree all 13 must go. I do think the Government lead by Dr. the Hon. Natalio Wheatley should be voted out. Wonderful persons all of them but alas they are not aware of what their remit is when it comes to our country and our tax dollars. Some of them, if they had some management experience may have made good politicians in the future, but Hon. Carvin definitely erred when choosing these young people and even the not so young. They are not hardworking at all and seems to enjoy the perks of being Honourable way more than fulfilling the needs of the people. And unfortunately their PSs are lacking in important skills as well.

I think a new Government under Hon. Ronnie Skelton would serve us well. He is a hardworker and his management experience will bode us well. I think those in his party needs to rally behind him and get us the help we need in this place. a new 13 will only serve us with another kindergarten government who has to go and learn the ropes if they are interested that is. We spend so much money in this country and right now has nothing to show for it. It is important to put some of our personal feelings aside and get the best persons finance and management ready before we lose our country all together.
