All gov’t departments to start digitising records by June

All government departments are slated to start digitising their records by June 1 of this year.

Cabinet made this decision during its January 25 meeting where it accepted and approved the draft management framework for the territory’s Records Management Centre.

Cabinet’s decision document from the meeting noted that, “an assessment will be carried out with the view to advancing to a formal electronic management system”.

This advancement will see government departments adapting from the model used by the Financial Services Commission.

The decision document also noted that the operating budget for the Records Centre is $128,500 so Cabinet approved that this amount be sought via a Schedule of Additional Provision.

In recent years, the government has made concerted efforts to enhance and incorporate technology-based systems to improve its overall operations.
