Applications now open: BVI Asia Abroad Scholarship Programme 2024

Applications are now open for the Fall 2024 BVI Asia Abroad Scholarship Programme and the BVI Hong Kong Office welcomes interested Belongers and Permanent Residents of the Virgin Islands to promptly apply.

In Fall 2023 the BVI Hong Kong Office proudly welcomed four (4) Virgin Islanders to the Asia-Pacific region for commencement of their studies through the scholarship programme. Ms. Kimberly Cordes, Ms. Tisa Donovan, Mr. Adante George and Mr. Travis Thomas made history as the first successful candidates of the programme since its launch in 2021. The first cohort is thriving at four (4) partner universities and embracing the culture of their new, dynamic Asian cities.

Scholars can pursue studies in Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degrees and short language programmes in Hong Kong, Shenzhen (mainland China), Singapore, Taiwan, and Macau. The scholarships cover 100% of tuition fees in diverse subject areas including, but not limited, to tourism/hospitality, finance, environmental science, teacher education and healthcare. Support with housing, travel and living expenses is also available.

Students can pursue studies in Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degree and short language programmes in various subject areas in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore, Taiwan, and Macau. Scholarships cover tuition fees and living/travel expense assistance is available.

The journey to starting studies in August/September 2024 begins with the following steps:

STEP 1 – Express interest personsshould suan interest form here or via the QR code as soon as possible prior to university deadlinesand a member of the BVI Hong Kong Office team will be in touch

STEP 2 – Email a letter of interest to [email protected]. At minimum, include biographical details, academic and employment backgroundbackground, , and motivation for your studies and future plan

STEP 4 – Submit the required supporting documentation to the BVI Hong Kong Office

STEP 5 – Sit an interview with the scholarship panel and await results

About the Programme

The BVI Asia Abroad Scholarship Programme is a three-way partnership between the Government of the Virgin Islands, elite Universities in Asia and the Private Sector to provide Virgin Islanders the opportunity to study in Asia. The programme is administered by the BVI’s Representative Office in Hong Kong which serves as a guide and liaison for Virgin Islanders studying in the region.
