Baltimore Security wins $586K contract for ESHS campuses

Junior ESHS students at their Road Town campus.

Baltimore Security Services has been awarded a contract valued more than half a million dollars for security services to the two campuses of the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS).

This was disclosed through a recent post-Cabinet statement which said the government reviewed an evaluation report submitted by the Central Tender Board’s (CTB) technical committee before coming to a decision on the $586,645 contract.

The CTB approved the award for the security company — owned and operated by Leston Baltimore, Sr. and Mary Baltimore — on November 8, 2021, the statement said.

Although the statement noted that the contract was awarded for a 52-week period, it did not state when the contract started or was expected to come to an end.

This is a notable deviation from the recent past where it was revealed that Cabinet retroactively awarded other security contracts to at least one other local firm. These include a six-month security contract for the same high school.

That security contract was valued at $327,360 but did not go through the tender process as was done with Baltimore Security Services in this instance.

Please review the story one more time. The article clearly states who the owners are, and that the contract went through the full process of the CTB and Cabinet (which includes Gov’t and Opposition). I’m not sure I understand your comment and accusation.

It’s simply top priority is running in the up coming election. More likely he will win this year. I foresee it. Especially if he runs at large.

So the market is open to other companies seeing that it will be a conflict of interest.

Once he wins he can not be getting jobs like before from the government. Note all those jobs obtain was contracted not hand outs. Just have to make that clear.

So it’s a good time if the capital is there to go and start a company like such. Cause a lot of Job he got would be conflict of interest when he wins in 2023

Not true. Caribbean Security gets lots of contracts from Government and it is owned by the Deputy Speaker of the House. Check your facts!

  5. school tent says:

hope he dont go back for the school tent

  6. heckler says:

They must be guarding the white house? Empty schools infested with mold, 2 bathrooms, mostly online classes and hardly any furniture to be guarded for so much money?

  7. Teacher says:

So what is going to happen to Ms.C? I hope this new company employs her and pay her a decent salary.
Nobody knows and cares for these children like she does and they love and respect her.
Mr and Ns. Baltimore please take note. If you want to get the job done and done well please take over Ms. C’s work permit. She is the heart and soul of Elmore Stoutt High.

  8. Inquiring minds says:

I don’t understand this. When was the company ever securing ESHS both campus. As far as I know it only Top Priority I’ve seen at both school. Am I or we the people missing something. Theirs more in the mortal besides the pestal.

  9. Reality says:

Average school year 180 days attended so that works out at approximately $3260 each school day . We could supply a free school meal for that instead of reinforcing claims of student antisocial behavior!

  10. Take your hat off says:

The average teaching days in a non covid year in USA schools 180 divided by contract value = approx $3260 a day! When the auditors arrive they will have trouble deciding how to quantify security. How long is it how tall is it ,was it all painted how much per Sqm! A more subtle Grift!
Actual costs 5 black uniforms 5 gallons of rubbing alcohol $8hr per watcher!

  11. Priorities says:

Why is this a priority? Rrality points out that this amounts of $3,260 per day! How does this compare with teacher’s wages on a daily basis? Why are we not, instead, spending the money to address the causes of antisocial behaviour at schools?

  12. Bob says:

How much an hour with your security be getting if that’s the case because 7-8 isn’t going be acceptable in these times and with the challenges they will have to go through it won’t be righy.
