Bank of Asia report to be tabled soon, says Premier

Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has assured residents he will table a report on the government’s Bank of Asia deposit before the current House of Assembly sitting ends.
The Premier told reporters at a recent press conference that he hopes the Auditor General’s separate report will be ready in time, but says he will table the Internal Audit report if it is not.
“We will lay a report on the table during this House sitting,” Dr Wheatley said. Asked why the report had not been tabled when the House met earlier, he said members had been engaged with other business.
“The Auditor General has just about concluded with her report. It’s my real hope that we’re able to lay the Auditor General’s report,” he said. “But if the Auditor General’s report is not ready by the end of the sitting, we’ll just go ahead and lay the Internal Audit report.”
The Premier was responding to reporter Zan Lewis, who recalled his July 30 efforts to make the Internal Audit Department’s report public by laying it in the House.
The reports concern the government’s US$5 million deposit with Bank of Asia (BVI), which was placed into provisional liquidation in May 2025. Dr Wheatley commissioned an Internal Audit of the transaction, while the Auditor General undertook a separate examination.
In May, Governor Daniel Pruce said he had seen the Internal Audit report but would not discuss its findings. He said at the time that the Auditor General’s investigation remained under way.
In a July statement concerning a separate government investment with Delta Capital Partners, Dr Wheatley said he had asked the Deputy Governor to review the Bank of Asia Internal Audit report to determine whether public officers bore responsibility for deficiencies it identified. He also said the Auditor General was preparing a report on the Bank of Asia certificate of deposit.

For sure do NOT vote for that party that allegedly bought hotels and more using bank of Asia (bvi tax payers) money. I thought the newest party was in for the greedy bill pension. You think they are wanting to split the votes or win (so a win win) just to make sure a non VIP party do not get in. Because if a non VIP or a non Vanterpool party get in, the truth behind the money trail will be exposed. People of the BVI, beware who you give the power to.
