The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has identified the boat captain who drowned at Norman Island on Sunday as United Kingdom national, Oliver Wheatley.

The 27-year-old recently migrated to the territory for employment purposes, said the RVIPF who are now conducting investigations.

“Initial inquiries indicate that Wheatley left his workplace at The Moorings as the captain of the vessel ‘Wind Therapy’ with six guests and the chef aboard,” the release further said.

At approximately 12:29 pm that afternoon, the Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) responded to an alarm after Wheatley, who had gone into the water, did not return to the boat.

His body was brought in by snorkelers at approximately 12:44 pm and subsequently taken by VISAR to the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital in Road Town, Tortola.

He was officially pronounced dead at 1:19 pm.

      My condolences to the family.

Sorry to trigger you Anonymous, but truth is if Oli did not live his life for Christ, then No, Heaven did not gain another angel. I never understand why people always say this when someone passes. The word of God is clear as to who inherits his kingdom. Goodness doesn’t guarantee us a trip to heaven, living fully for Christ does.
