Major disturbance at prison

BVI News Online has been receiving reports from various credible sources that there was a major disturbance today at Her Majesty’s Prison, Balsam Ghut.
Details of the incident are not yet clear.
It is said that, in addition to correctional officers, members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force dressed in ‘riot gear’ were helping to restore order.
When contacted, Police Information Officer Diane Drayton told BVI News Online: “I can confirm that police were contacted to provide assistance at the prison this morning. Not clear, at this time, if and what actions were actually taken by police. But I understand everything is back to normal at this time.”
The management of the prison was said to be locked in a meeting up to publication time.
