BVI launches ‘Airmid’ app for diagnosed, suspected or quarantined COVID-19 cases
Persons requiring medical assistance relating to the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) can now access it virtually, thanks to the newly-launched mobile application called ‘Airmid’.
A government-commissioned release said the application was launched on April 15 by the BVI Health Services Authority in partnership with the United Kingdom-based company, TPP Global Development.
It targets persons who are ‘diagnosed, suspected or on quarantine’ for COVID-19 and enables them to have a communication line with their assigned doctor to follow-up on their symptoms through an android or iPhone.
“These new technologies will also allow for patients who need more care or testing for COVID-19 and will also ensure that those who can manage their condition on their own do not access medical services,” the release stated.
Health Minister Carvin Malone said the new application would also allow these patients to “follow-up appointments and video consultations for patients to access healthcare from the comfort of their home”.
BVIHSA’s Chief Executive Officer Dr Ronald Georges stated that hard work went into the new application and it is expected to expand “to provide a range of telemedicine services to better serve the community while promoting health and wellness”.
