BVI ranked as second best place to visit in the Caribbean

Notwithstanding reduced arrivals due to the pandemic and major problems with its entry portal, the British Virgin Islands is still recognised as one of the top destinations to visit in the Caribbean for 2021 and 2022.

This is according to US News & World Report — an American media organisation that publishes news, opinion, consumer advice, rankings, and analysis.

Among its compilation of the region’s 17 best destinations, the BVI was named second-best; only bettered by St Lucia which was ranked at number one.

“Posh” is the best word to describe the British Virgin Islands, US News & World Report said of the BVI.

“The island country’s beautiful coast sets it apart from other Caribbean destinations. The shoreline at Cane Garden Bay and the white sand beaches on Anegada island are stunning, and the boulders and sea pools at The Baths National Park are mystifying. One of the best ways to see these scenic islands is by yacht or on a boat tour from the nearby U.S. Virgin Islands. You can also choose to relax in one of the islands’ upscale hotels,” it stated

The US publisher further described the BVI as having some of the most exclusive and least-developed islands of the Caribbean.

“But this only adds to their appeal,” it noted.

“The resorts, villas, restaurants and other tourist attractions in this paradise are known to emphasize spare luxury over sprawling expansion, and they attract travellers with deep pockets and a love for sailing and seclusion. Many travellers who visit come by ferry boat from another Caribbean isle, especially as some find opulent exile too hard to enjoy for longer than a day or two. And some say it’s better to split your time between here, the nearby US Virgin Islands and Anguilla to the east.”

The other countries to round off top Caribbean nations to visit are the Turks & Caicos Islands, US Virgin Islands, St Vincent & The Grenadines, Antigua, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Curacao, St Kitts & Nevis, Guadeloupe, Grenada, St Barts, Bahamas, Aruba, Anguilla, and St Maarten.

Article must be based on pre covid times.

“One of the best ways to see these scenic islands is by yacht or on a boat tour from the nearby U.S. Virgin Islands.”

This is simply not possible right now unless you come on your own private boat or arrange to have a BVI based water taxi pick you up. USVI originated charters and tour boats arent allowed here.

And worse, our BVILoveGov don’t want them.
LoveGov doing everything to stop (top for the economy) charter boats and everything to welcome (small pay for the people but payday for politicians and their friends) cruise ships.

Probably not based on pre covid times. I was travelling the other day via San Juan and there was a family of 6 in front of me in the line as we waited to go through immigration and they were speaking to a couple about the wonderful time they had in the BVI despite the covid pandemic, so there are visitors who are finding ways to enjoy the islands. I was rather pleased to hear that they had a good experience.

I will admit, the BVI is a beautiful place. But there is no way it is the second best place to visit in the Caribbean. That is pure misleading information.

They did no research. He/She sat in a cushy office and just dream up an article which he feels will get the editor’s attention and get them some money. We all admit that the view when sailing is wonderful but it is just another descriptive essay writing exercise.

You are just pathetic! If it was your Island it would have been well reserved and thought out and it is not your Island so you know exactly what happened. I wouldn’t be surprised if you live in the Virgin islands.

Living in Puerto Rico and having visited most of these islands via my own boat. I can honestly say eaxh island has its own charm, strenghts and weakness. I don’t see one being better than others. I enjoy what eaxh has to offer. The BVI is more expensive than the USVI and both are more expensive than Puerto Rico. All have high end hotels with worl class cuisine. All have hole in the wall less expensive fare to eat. There is somthing for almost any one.

Those people that don’t like fun under the sun should avoid these areas. We have an abundance of sun, sand and water sports.

There are some people who are clearly not from the BVI as they post the most ugly things about the BVI. And to top it off we allow then to earn their living in the BVI.

I don’t think the negative comments come from foreign people. We should be able to express how we feel about our country good and bad. That’s how we progress. I tend to like it here but there’s lots to complain about too. Like evrywhere.

  15. Seriously though says:

I really believe that all of you who disagree with the article lives here, works here, and don’t intend to leave here for your more beautiful home. You didn’t leave here after Irma and you are still here during the pandemic. Go to your beautiful home where you can tell your give what to do. Not here!

“where you can tell your government what to do. Everything is a problem. Why should the article irk you like that. Push out!
