The BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA) is seeking a management company to run the newly-launched VIP Lounge at the TB Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island.

The BVIAA said via a tender notice that the successful company chosen to run the 624-square-foot lounge must offer amenities such as flight information monitors, televisions, newspapers and magazines, as well as complimentary wireless internet access.

Additionally, they will be required to advise passengers when their flights are called to board and offer escort services to the respective flight gates.

“Besides offering more comfortable sitting, the lounge will provide complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and light snacks which may include fruit, cheese, soup, small sandwiches, pastries and breakfast items,” the BVIAA further said.

Minimum 10 years experience required

The tender document further said interested parties must provide evidence that it can staff and equip the lounge, show documented proof that the owner or one of its managers have at least 10 years experience in managing an airport VIP lounge, a hotel, medium to large-sized restaurant or hospitality establishment, among other things.

Furthermore, evidence of ‘sound financial standing and the availability of sufficient capital for operating, maintenance and any other planned improvements’ must be shown.

June 1 is the deadline for any interested party to respond. Proposals must be sent to the Lisa Penn-Lettsome building in East End, Tortola. Persons can contact the Deputy Managing Director of the BVIAA, Luce Hodge-Smith for further information.

In the usual departure lounge, when you get through security to air-side, a beer costs $8 so $10 for the in-transit lounge with complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks plus snacks seems very good value.

While they are at it maybe they should also get a new customer service employee, somebody who actually answers questions sent on their official page. Everyone keeps writing about inbound flights to bvi/closed borders and nothing on outgoing!! Some of us would like to leave and get some details when it is possible. And no, I don’t need a return ticket!

The daily average of 250-300 passengers= 275 passengers a week.
275 passengers a week = 40 passengers a day, every day of the year.
Where are these passengers coming from and in transit to?
40 passengers is one full plane load a day every day of the week,
Can someone please explain the statistics
