BVIPA security officers complete training with RVIPF
Fifteen security officers from the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) have completed a week-long training programme aimed at enhancing port safety and security.
The course, held in partnership with the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), ran from July 14 to 18 at the Virgin Islands Law Enforcement Marine Base.
The training focused on preparing officers to meet local, regional, and international security standards, with RVIPF-accredited instructors delivering sessions designed to improve efficiency, professionalism, and confidence in the field.
BVIPA Managing Director Akeem Pickering underscored the importance of investing in the security team.
“The safety and security of our ports are at the heart of operations. This training ensures that our security officers are prepared to meet the demands of their roles and uphold the level of professionalism required in port security. We remain committed to equipping our team with the skills and knowledge necessary to protect our ports of entry.”
The initiative is part of the Ports Authority’s broader effort to strengthen its security posture amid the evolving challenges facing global maritime operations.
