College reveals top students as 190 graduate

The management of H Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) has announced that Science students Zora Williams and Julissa Cedano are the top performers graduating today, June 8.

They both scored the highest Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0, and are enrolled full-time at the HLSCC Paraquita Bay campus on Tortola.

The top performing part-time student is Weslene Walters, who studied Business Administration and Accounting.

The disclosure was made this afternoon as the college released a general profile of its 2017 graduating class, which comprise 190 students from the institution’s two campuses – one located on the island of Tortola and the other on Virgin Gorda.

Here is the profile based on information from HLSCC:

  • Number of candidates who applied and were successful for graduation: 190

126 part-time; 64 full-time

  • Number of degrees and certificates: 190

14 from Paraquita Bay Campus, 1 from VG

4 Males:

All from Paraquita Bay campus on Tortola

  • Age ranges: 17-55: Average: 23
  • Highest GPA full-time 4.0:

Two females from the Paraquita Bay Campus (Zora Williams – Associate Degree in General Science; Julissa Cedano  –  Associate Degree in Natural Science)

  • Highest GPA part-time:3.90

One female from the Paraquita Bay campus (Weslene Walters – Associate Degree in Business Administration-Accounting)

Summa Cum Laude:11 (11 females)

Magna Cum Laude:10 (five females and five males)

Cum Laude: 25 (19 females and six males)

Provisional PTK Members:24 (18 females and six Males). Of the total number, 22 recipients are from the Tortola campus

PTK Members: 28 (20 females and eight males) all from the Tortola campus
