Commonwealth Day message from Her Majesty The Queen

Queen Elizabeth II

Commonwealth Day has a special significance this year as we mark the 70th anniversary of the London Declaration when nations of the Commonwealth agreed to move forward together as free and equal members.

The vision and sense of connection that inspired the signatories has stood the test of time, and the Commonwealth continues to grow, adapting to address contemporary needs.

Today, many millions of people around the world are drawn together because of the collective values shared by the Commonwealth.

In April last year, I welcomed the leaders of our 53 nations to Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, and we all witnessed how the Commonwealth vision offers hope, and inspires us to find ways of protecting our planet, and our people.

We are able to look to the future with greater confidence and optimism as a result of the links that we share, and thanks to the networks of cooperation and mutual support to which we contribute, and on which we draw.

With enduring commitment through times of great change, successive generations have demonstrated that whilst the goodwill for which the Commonwealth is renowned may be intangible, its impact is very real.

We experience this as people of all backgrounds continue to find new ways of expressing through action the value of belonging in a connected Commonwealth.

I hope and trust that many more will commit to doing so this Commonwealth Day.

This type of thing is just so disgusting and vile to look at in the 21st century.

How long will it take for the entire world to rid itself of colonialism?

When will all of Gods creatures be free from the imposed reality of being ruled by someone else?

When will nations of Black people be allowed to rule themselves, as it is their God given right?

Why should that nation and its royalty have complete power and control over this or any other Black nation?

In the 21st century, can such be seen or even thought of as right, righteous and correct?

When will all countries still under colonial rule be given their inalienable God given right to freedom and self determination?

When blacks learn how to stop destroying and keeping each other down then they may qualify to run there own Nations. Destruction I agree on.

Self determination? You are fighting an uphill battle that only education can fix. The problem is not necessarily the Queen; she is just doing her job.

The problem is there is a large percentage of the BVI people who have grown accustomed to having the Brits as their Sovereign State and who unfortunately does not trust their own to lead them forward in this manner.

It’s the people of the BVI who for the larger part does not want independence. Those are the people who needs to be convinced as far as I see it.

So as long as the status quo remains among the people relative to their elected leaders and how they view their relationship with London, expect no difference a message from Buckingham Palace each year. The beat will go on.

Harriet Tubman once said: “I freed a thousand slaves. I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves.”

Maybe some people just like being controlled, or maybe they are being practical and looking at the country and saying to themselves, that they are better off with the status quo.

I think there is an argument to be made for both positions, but that fight has to start with the people.

If you want to gauge how difficult that battle will be, just keep a tab on the dislikes to your post. That should give you a clue as to how difficult this battle will be. Notice your post is being disliked already. Winning over hearts and minds in this neck of the woods is not for the faint of heart.

You have a lot of work to do buddy. Best wishes.

Anyone that dislikes what anonymous stated is clearly one that hates and therefore does not believe that, or want to see Black people liberated from the bondages of colonialism, racism and hate.

And, that makes you a human hater.

The one tenent of the stated “Commonwealth Vision”, by the Queen is… “the protection of it’s people”.., eh?

While I am learning about the function of this entity, I’m still baffled as to how this nation will be protected, once Belongership status is gone.

And who will “protect” us when financial services is no more, to ensure that BVIslanders will still have jobs, and that our country can meet it’s obligations to it’s citizens and the world..

Or should we all be grateful to be “Britishers”, and blend right in with the “conformed programming” of nothingness, all sorrounded in a sea of whiteness..

It is these types of hypocritical messages that have bombarded us for decades that we should all play quite keen attention to.

For we have never been “Britishers”, and the Queen is keenly aware of this, hence the need of our continued vigilance and pushback against this type of racist programming!

    • Incredible says:

Do you idiots even read? The commonwealth may have started to further the British interest alone and from an era where all sorts of acts we find repugnant today occurred.

But look at the number of sovereign nations in there. Also, if your programming is to think about division merely on the basis of skin colour (not a very British mindset- don’t let Trump and Bannon, who sound a lot like some of the anti-expat section of Belongers, infect you) many of those nations are not majority white. The commonwealth was in danger of becoming completely redundant in world politics yet has a renewed importance or opportunity to work together to compete globally with and against other large political blocs. We can choose the parochial narrative like the comments above or look for opportunities to trade more with each other.

The last recent and further back is riddled with serious problems we should educate ourselves not to repeat and not to slip into the politics of division but amongst those nations, with the might of India, the resources of Canada and Australia and African nations, the strategic importance of Singapore and the U.K. all of the Commonwealth nations ought to have this as a platform. Shared educational values and the opportunity to learn from each other. Rather than deride the origins of the Commonwealth, aren’t we better placed to buy into with our fellow members and ask and shape what it can do for our children? Economic and political allies are important and we ought also to be leveraging the platform to ask the n
Big questions about future prosperity, climate change mitigation, joined up might to hold corporationas and other groups to account on pollution, conservation, human rights and personal privacy, the balance of power between the state and the people.

If you think USA, China, Russia are going to look after our interests better, good luck! The EU and the USA want to squash us out of business to take over financial and wealth flows and increase their power, and those who would take a stand from within the U.K. ought to be empowered by and pressured by joined up forces – look at the number of commonwealth members who rely of financial services to some extent – and this is one group. More joined up we would all be individually stronger when bargaining with the rest of the world but particularly China, Russia, EU and USA.

Sorry, “Incredible”, but I had to offer a rebuttal to the nonsense aforementioned.

Yes, I’m a graduate of middle, high, college, graduate, and post-graduate schools, which offers me a bit more sophistication on most of the topics rendered on a daily basis.

And if you have kept up with Ausar’s bloggings on these news websites over the years, from the incept of these online news websites, you will have realized by now, that Ausar’s blogs, gets the eyes and ears of the ruling politicians!

Not meaning to brag, but Ausar is preety much a behemoth in BVI politics! And you may have also noticed, Ausar does not need 52 lines of psychobabble, to get a point across.

Truly, a level of intellect that is obviously missing from the above prose!

So, I suggest that you offer an abridged version of your thoughts, so that we all can enjoy READING about real issues and get about the business of the disbandment of misinformation!

        P.S.

        Long proses: YAWNNNNN:(((((!

“A graduate of middle, high, college, graduate, and post-graduate schools” should not have to resort to insults to get their point across. Should be above that. Just saying.

I understand some people can get under your skin and hit below the belt, but educated people should show in their response why they are above that.

    • Reason says:

The Quen has black ancestry. it is time for black people here in the territory to start accting like idiots and do what have you to do. “fight for your right”.

What Queen, never bought into this colonial system,I saw my country struggle to survive with a name of British and nothing to show for it and today we still are threatened with laws and policies that we are forced to comply with little or no recource. Mentally we are still enslaved ,the recent moves by the british government is to seized more control , by further enslaving us. WE should cut our ties with the British and carve out a path that of independence,or more atonomy for self government . The time has come for us to stand up, for what we believe and what we want for our country, and not be afraid by what others say, they have their individual interest and will opose us for their own benefit.

  8. Nothing is new under the sun says:

The problems of this world are caused by those nation groups (European Union, Anglosphere etc) that have profited on the backs of other groups. Now they actively sabotage and try to destroy other groups that start to rise.

I paraphrase a comment by Alex Jones. “First World nations should be allowed to remain rich and powerful, other nations should be allowed to be tourist destinations. Everybody will be better off”

This commonwealth equality thing is a distraction. After Brexit, the real intention is a merger of the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. This way they can collectively exploit the other commonwealth members with one sided trade deals.
