Company incorporations see biggest growth trend in 5 years

The BVI recorded its strongest first half for new company incorporations since 2021, with nearly 15,000 companies registered during the first six months of 2026.

Figures from the BVI Financial Services Commission show 14,977 new companies were incorporated between January and June. This growth is a positive sign for the BVI financial services industry, which makes most of it’s money from company incorporations.

Other areas of the financial services industry also recorded significant growth.

Limited partnerships, which are commonly used for investment and business structures, jumped 73 percent over the past year. Private investment fund registrations nearly doubled, moving from 14 to 27. Overall, 74 new funds were registered during the quarter, compared with 60 a year earlier.

The BVI’s regulated virtual asset sector also expanded sharply, with the number of licensed Virtual Asset Service Providers rising from five to 27 within 12 months. BVI Finance CEO Elise Donovan said the figures show the territory is keeping pace as international finance changes.

“The growth in limited partnerships and private investment funds reflects the jurisdiction’s continued relevance to global private capital,” Donovan said. She added that the expansion of licensed virtual asset businesses shows the BVI’s traditional strengths are also relevant to the digital economy.

Financial Services Minister Lorna Smith said the figures demonstrate the range of services offered by the jurisdiction.

“Continued strength in our corporate sector, combined with growth in private-capital structures and regulated digital assets, demonstrates the breadth of the jurisdiction’s offering,” Smith said. She added that the government remains committed to supporting responsible innovation while strengthening the BVI’s position as a competitive international financial centre.

The BVI has become a dump site wherever you drive on Tortola there are smashed up boats vehicles and other garbage since the 2017 hurricane in plain sight of the people who lives hear and the tourist. Has anyone of you who are in power ever learned from the older people that the way keep your home and surrounding’s tells a lot about who you are. If something doesn’t work its time people of the British Virgin Islands to try something different we have been at a standstill for too long it can’t get any worse than it is right now.
