Contracts signed for Road Town Plan, Fisherman Wharf
The government has signed two consultancy contracts to advance major development projects in Road Town and at the Omar Hodge Fishers’ Wharf in Baughers Bay, Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley announced during a ceremony on March 24.
The contracts cover design consultancy services for a new fisheries landing site at the Omar Hodge Fishers’ Wharf and the Road Town Master Plan, both of which are being managed by the Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (RDA).
“Today is a meaningful day in the life of our territory,” Dr Wheatley said. “We gather to witness the signing of two important contracts that mark two significant milestones in the continued development and transformation of the Virgin Islands,” he stated.
He added that the projects “represent progress, vision, and confidence in the future of the Virgin Islands,” he stated.
According to the Premier, the fisheries landing site project is intended to support local fishers and strengthen food security in the territory. He said fishing remains an important part of the Virgin Islands’ culture and economy.
“A modern, well-designed Fisheries Landing Site will help ensure that our fishers have the facilities they need to operate safely, efficiently, and sustainably,” Dr Wheatley said, noting that the project will “support livelihoods, enhance food resilience, and reinforce our commitment to responsible use of our marine resources,” he stated.
He also pointed to the legacy of the late Omar Hodge, stating that advancing the project honours his vision for the wharf and its role in supporting the fishing community.
Turning to the Road Town Master Plan, Dr Wheatley described the capital as the territory’s main commercial and administrative centre, which continues to experience growth and increasing demand on infrastructure.
“Growth is a sign of a healthy and dynamic economy, but it also brings new pressures on our infrastructure,” he said, adding that proper planning is needed to manage development effectively.
He explained that the master plan will guide land use, infrastructure development and long-term planning to ensure the capital remains functional and resilient.
“A thoughtful master plan will help us create a capital city that is functional, resilient, and attractive,” Dr Wheatley said, adding that the aim is to build “a Road Town that works for its people and one that we can all be proud of.”
The contracts were awarded to WDMO Group Design & Drafting and OBM Limited. Premier Wheatley said the government looks forward to the firms’ contributions as the projects move forward.
The RDA was also commended for its role in overseeing the initiatives. Dr Wheatley said the agency has demonstrated its ability to deliver major projects that have a “transformative impact” on the territory.

And the kick backgame goes on.
A lot of signing will be had in the next few months.. Election must be dawning on us . They say all 13 must go . I agree, but I want to know who the 13 are that will replace the current 13. Asking for inquiring minds.
So who owns these companies?
The public needs water, this issue will put the current administration out of office. This must be addressed soonest
While the “Road Town Master Plan” makes some sense (if properly done) this Fisherman Wharf is a waste of time and money… Probably idea of Omar’s son now that he is at the RDA.
BTW we must watch carefully on what they are doing of the RDA… it’s being politically used and its original fundaments are being destroyed…
I feel the same way as you do. Who are these companies? Who are WDMO Group? That is public moneys being spent. This should not be a secret. You have to show them on camera and name their names. We should know who are receiving these contracts. Tax dollars are being spent. And by the way, Hon. Premier, can you spend some of this $100 million on something that is actually urgent like proper water supply territory-wide, DDM Building and Complex completion, healthcare, NHI, scholarships, please. We have to payback this loan. You are already a wealthy man, but lots of poor people will help to pay back that loan. Let us shower comfortably, drive comfortably at least and have proper healthcare.
There was an entire live-streamed signing ceremony. Everything is in the open
Where was all this “action” outside the scope of “election time coming”..seems fishy, no pun intended
What more contracts for Wiggo and C.O.S-C and nothing at the end??
A good fit with the “Omar – Hodge Money For Greenhouses Fishermans Wharf”
I hate to hear people complaining about any present or past governments signing long overdue contracts for projects before elections. Asks yourself the question , should the government shuts down 2 years before an election and do absolutely nothing ?. With this mentality Tortola will always be behind.
