Cops giving away Ford pickup to raise funds for community projects

The 2019 Ford Ranger XLT up for grabs.

Residents of the BVI will have a chance to win a 2019 Ford Ranger XLT and six months of free gas as part of a vehicle raffle being put on by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

The raffle — a fundraising initiative — is part of the force’s Police Week, which was officially launched on August 2 following the unveiling of the vehicle at the festival village in Road Town.

Deputy Commissioner of Police and chairman of the Police Week Planning Committee Alwin James said all proceeds from the raffle will be used to benefit various communities throughout the British Virgin Islands.

“We see the need to consistently engage in the development of various areas within the community. I look forward to the overwhelming support of the community, there are lots of prizes to be won for twenty bucks,” said the Deputy Commissioner who noted partnership sponsors such as Nagico, Delta Petroleum and Tortola Auto Group (TAG).

Before the raffle draw which is set for December 24 at Delta Petroleum’s Pasea Estate location, a number of early-bird raffle prizes will be awarded

These include two 55-inch television sets, a round trip ticket to Puerto Rico, and two round trip tickets to St Maarten. The first early bird drawing will be on August 31 and the second on October 26.

Meanwhile, the 2019 Police Week of activities included “food hamper donations to Family Support Network, donations to BVI Autism Center, and engagements with the seniors through the ‘Plant a Tree’ Initiative and senior night activities”.

Will the raffle be fair ? What i am asking is , if someone for example buys a ticket , and they are living on VG. If that person has the winning number but is unable to be present when their number is drawn. Will the organizers honor the drawn number or will they be unfair as in past raffles? Like any “Lottery” once a number is drawn, that is the official winning number.

All drawings are final, you do not need to be present to win. We will save your ticket and call you if you are not present.

And! Your ticket goes back into the bin for the next drawing, so there are multiple chances to win.

I am curious to know if once a number is drawn, will the organizers of the raffle respect international standards and respect the fact that once a number is drawn , that number becomes the winning number whether or not the holder of the winning number is present or not.Let us Raise The Standards RVIPF. Hoping that this is the case as i live on VG and will like to participate.

I’m waiting for the feedback as to whether or not a ticket will be honored as winning ticket if the Holder is not present at the Drawing. To avoid confusion and unfairness, once a ticket number is drawn, it should be registered as the Winning Ticket, whether the Holder is present or not. Give a time frame of 24 or 48hrs for Winner to present themselves, least they forfeit their prize. It’s not everyone can drop or cease their
daily routines, appointments or schedule for Drawings.
