Bradford Prince, the Dominica national who police found with 1,600 grams of cocaine, a quantity of cannabis, and $4,000 cash in June 2018 has been convicted of possession of proceeds of criminal conduct.

Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards told Prince via video link on Tuesday that based on the evidence outlined during his trial, the monies found in his possession and at his Purcell Estate apartment at the time were the proceeds of drug sales.

Prince — who had already pleaded guilty to the drug offences — was also found him guilty of failing to stop at the sound of a siren.

What the court heard happened

Police were alerted to the 56-year-old man after reportedly observing him driving recklessly as he was exiting a parking lot at a nightclub in East End.

It is reported that police signalled to Prince to stop but he ignored the officers who subsequently gave chase. Despite giving chase and turning on their police siren during the pursuit, Prince only stopped when cows blocked his path.

The offender was subsequently searched. Law enforcers found $1,666 in Prince’s pocket and 12.8 grams of cocaine in the vehicle within which he was travelling.

He was subsequently arrested.

The court heard that police later executed a search warrant at Prince’s residence where they allegedly recovered more cash and drugs. Police reportedly found 1,644.36 grams of cocaine and 21.58 grams of cannabis.

The law enforcers also found four bundles of cash bound by rubber bands at the residence. Each bundle amounted to $1,000, the court heard.

In a previous court appearance, Prince pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug, two counts of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply to another but not guilty to possession of proceeds of criminal conduct.

He is scheduled to return to court on December 10 for sentencing.
