Cruelty! My dogs were murdered

Cindy Rosan-Jones

Outspoken resident and talk show host, Cindy Rosan-Jones has alleged that someone had her pet dogs killed.

In a brief Facebook post made this past Saturday, May 8, the Cut Deep host said, “my dogs were murdered this morning. Stay tuned for the full story, names and ramifications”.

The post featured pictures of two dead dogs; at least one of which was photographed foaming at the mouth.

The post also included a short video of an audibly grief-stricken young boy, believed to be her son, stroking one of the dead animals.

Rosan-Jones has vowed to expose the individual she believes is responsible for the heinous act.

“The individual that did this will be named and exposed. They should no longer be comfortable living or working in the BVI nor should they be around or affiliated to any organisation; especially ones that cater to children,” Rosan-Jones said.

Her post received an outpouring of sympathy and support from residents with many agreeing the alleged perpetrator be fined heavily or given a lengthy jail term.

One resident, Elroy Turnbull, commented: “This is cruelty in the first degree. I lost two dogs a few years ago to poisoning so I know the pain you feeling.”

Another resident, Sails Sandy remarked: “There is no difference between murdering dogs and humans. Anyone that can poison a dog deserves the harshest punishment because if you are that twisted, you can do it to people.”

Just last week, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) issued a release that spoke to the penalties for persons intentionally harming animals.

“Owners will be charged criminally for any attacks or damage to property as a result of their unrestrained animals. Similarly, persons found to be intentionally harming or setting poison out to harm or kill animals can also be charged and prosecuted under the Protection of Animals Act, Cap 94, sec 3 (1) (a) for cruelty to animal,” Acting Deputy Police Commissioner St Clair Amory stated at the time.

Over the years, the territory has had several reports of persons finding their dogs poisoned.

… Who knows where the dogs got the poison? A responsible dog owner would ensure the dogs are on leash, as the law states, and they are monitored so they are not going anywhere they want and causing damage to themselves or others.

The people of the BVI have moved themselves to the lowest rung of humanity. Murderers, drug dealers, child rapists, dog killers, what’s next? For a population so small the amount of crime and criminal activity equals that of Mogadishu. You should all be ashamed of yourselves and your leaders condone the activities and also participate. What a blight you are on this beautiful land.

Those who live in glass houses should never throw stones…consider where you are from and what race or ethnic group you identify with. Judging from your comments alone I am minded to associate you with the authority figure/s who leveled such accusations against the BVI in an official capacity…if that is in fact so, might I take you to the year 1834 and the years stemming about 2 centuries before that in the Virgin Islands history and then tell the BVI about murderers, drug dealers, child rapists, etc…

My Family has also lost a very Dear dog to poison. The poison was deliberately put in our yard to kill the dog.
after picking up the dog as it was dying my wife came in contact with the froth from dogs mouth. she was very sick for 2 days.
if it had been a child the child might have died too.
it is unforgivable to poison animals in that way.
By same token no animals should roam free, be it dogs, cows sheep or goats.
all animals must be penned or controlled.

Purchase a poison antidote kit from a reputable veterinarian. My pit bull has been poisoned FOUR times in the last 2 years and survived each incident with this kit. You must act fast and administer the antidote while the dog is still alive and breathing. Next bring the dog(s) to a vet as soon as possible.

Despite surviving the poison the dog will suffer some residual effects from the poison such as less activity, less running, etc. BUT at least the dog is alive.

The poisoning stopped in my area when a local kid got arrested for drug smuggling. Figure that connection out!

The dog shouldn’t have been poison; but you have to consider that a person with your kinda or attitude and behavior will often times have some reasons. You’re not that unique and special Miss.jones. “My daughter woke up crying. All day she is regretting sending the dogs out to relieve themselves.” So this means the dogs were off leach and not in the control of the owners. How can she say someone particularly poison her dogs, will fully? If someone was with the dogs then they should not have been allowed to pick up anything and eat. Also, what mother suspecting her dogs were poisoned, would allow their children to be touching a dead dog. Not my children, family pet of not. I protect my children, period. This is a case of poor negligence. I am sure that she was warned on many occasions to keep her dogs leashed. She is a tenant not the owner of the property, as the article stated, she should have had better control of her dogs. Some people fear dogs and those small little dogs love to rush at people. Size means nothing, those teeth are sharp. Blaming someone for her negligence is devious and posting pictures of her crying children to gain sympathy is just for media attention.

This story should be taken with a grain of salt. From the pictures and how she portrays this, it is just for media attention. First, the dogs were off-leash, second out of her control and third she nor her children were around when they ingested what they ingested. This is owner’s negligence. Now she wants to blame someone? She should blame herself. All animal advocates should stop getting emotional. it upsets me when dog owners just let their dogs roam free then want to blame someone when their dogs get hurt. I have dogs and a good dog owner and mother should protect those in their care. Then she has her son, on video PETTING A SUSPENCTED POISONED DOG?” How are you people not seeing this? Your dogs were not murdered. Murder is the killing of another human being. People allow their dogs to roam and $h!t all over the place, bite and rush after people. Sometimes you have to leave the sidewalk because someone with a dog on the leash is approaching and the dog is coming towards people. We don’t want to be licked or bitten. The Police officer themselves have said that animal attacks are on the rise that means negligent owners are on the rise.

Putting exposed poison down is negligent. If you can do that with a good conscience knowing there is a large risk to dogs or livestock you are a sick individual. If a dog peeing near you upsets you that much there are so many better ways to solve the issue than poison.
Even people who farm animals for a living kill them in a humane way – there is nothing nice about poison.
I seriously hope the neighbour who posted and complained about the dog on Facebook is questioned because this reeks of a vendetta and any individual that can stoop to this need counselling.

I’m sorry for the dogs and children but you have to look at the broader picture, Cindy don’t know where her dogs went when she loose them, I’ve made to understand the yard DOESNT have a fence nor gate anything can go in and out of the yard.
