Curfew hours extended

The Government has extended the hours of the curfew from 6: pm to 9: am daily.

Communications Minister, Mark Vanterpool, explained that this is to facilitate the cleaning-up of debris from the roadways in the mornings.

“… I believe hasta nueve [until nine] in the morning,” the minister said while addressing members of a group, including those from the Spanish-speaking communities on Tortola.

“The reason; we want to be able to keep the cars off the roads so we can clean the roads for a couple hours in the morning. So they going to try to extend it…and then by the end of the week we will reduce it back to the regular time.”

Previously, the hours of the curfew were from 6: pm to 6: am.

The curfew was imposed following reports of widespread looting of business establishments across the territory.
