Divide among Opposition factions deepening?

The Alliance has revealed that their two NDP colleagues — Ronnie Skelton and Marlon Penn — recently turned down a meeting that was called to finalize the second motion of no confidence aimed at the Dr. Natalio Wheatley administration.

The motion was reintroduced by Leader of the Opposition Myron Walwyn, citing widespread dissatisfaction with the administration’s economic management, public services, and transparency. Speaking on the Pulse of the People radio show, Walwyn said it was unfortunate that Penn and Skelton failed to show up, adding that efforts were made to have full consultation with the Opposition side before the motion was filed.

“We called a meeting for the 20th of May and I didn’t get a response from the other members of the Opposition (Penn and Skelton). Later that week, I sent a reminder and Honourable Penn indicated that he was overseas. Honourable Skelton then sent a note that he couldn’t make it,” Walwyn explained.

He continued: “I responded and asked if we could have the meeting by WhatsApp so everyone could be involved. I didn’t get a response so we (members of the Alliance) had the meeting. We then informed everyone that we were filing the vote of ‘no confidence’ and there was again no acknowledgement.”

This statement by the Alliance has triggered fresh concerns that divisions among Opposition members may be deepening, even as residents call for a united political front while the territory continues to go through turbulent times.

However, Penn and Skelton recently stated that they intend to contribute to the debate whenever it comes up in the legislature.

Both leaders also agreed that this second motion of no confidence is unlikely to unseat the current government but is more about holding the government to account. “I don’t think it’s a matter of winning,” Skelton shared. “It’s for us as an opposition to point to the government and tell them, listen, you are falling short in all of these areas.”

From my observation Ronnie and Marlin have been the problem with getting the opposition parties together. They had 7 years to do it and they failed. But when the alliance got together in a mad rush Ronnie dissolve PVIM and went to join the NDP without even telling his PVIM colleagues and supporters.
Now they will do anything to make sure that Myron is not successful as opposition leader. And in House of Assembly you see them and Natalio tag teaming Myron. The whole situation is unfortunate.

Why would Hon. Penn say that all of the opposition was not involved when they were the ones that didn’t come to the meeting or respond to messages? Why the lie?

Marlon and Ronnie are the power hungry ones. They only got back together to protect their positions. They could not even get together in the last election because they both wanted to be Premier. One for two years and the other for two years.
Now they’re afraid that the alliance gain ground so they all of a sudden they are back together. Anybody with sense could see through this stupidness.

And in this vacuum we end up with a Dictatorship, leading us to the Independence that we all know is not intended to be good for the VI but good for a very few corrupt elite.

Trust me a lot of us know who he is. Tell he try running at large and see what happens. He can only survive in the 6th district that is our largest expat community just like he is. But there is a silent majority of multi generation Virgin Islanders who are sitting quietly waiting on election to show Walwyn who we really are. To be honest I prefer Sowande over Walwyn. Walwyn is too dangerous.

It was the same Myron Walwyn who rallied the youth and young people vote in 2011 sweeping NDP back into office for two consecutive terms following a devastating wipeout in 2007. That was the first resurrection of Ronnie Skelton. Ungratefulness is worse than witchcraft.

If the three stooges already act so untruthful why would anyone now want to sit and have a meeting with them. People please read the news properly and listen to each individual carefully and think for yourselves.

The no confidence vote was a stupid move by Myron. And only his fans can’t see that. It never had a chance and now they want to blame the people who he undermined. No it is his own fault this did not work.
