Does BVI have storage space, equipment for promised vaccines?

As the UK continues to administer COVID-19 vaccines in its biggest-ever immunisation campaign, the BVI public is waiting to hear whether the government has secured storage space and equipment for the vaccines the UK has promised.

When the UK first promised to secure vaccines for its Overseas Territories, Premier Andrew Fahie requested information from the UK government to allow the BVI to adequately prepare a proper storage facility for the vaccine, ahead of arrival.

However, BVI News is still awaiting a response from the government on whether such storage space has been identified or whether it is even necessary.

The UK has not said which brand of vaccines will be given to BVI and other Overseas Territories. But so far, shots developed by US biotech company, Moderna, and another by Pfizer and Germany’s BioNTech are the leading ones.

The Moderna COVID shot can survive for six months at minus 20 degrees celsius — the temperature of a standard domestic freezer.

But the vaccine developed by Pfizer and Germany’s BioNTech, which the UK started administering yesterday, must be stored at minus 70C. This means special freezers are required.

A report from the Financial Times has said: “Demand for ultra-cold storage freezers has spiked as governments and manufacturers prepare to ship Covid-19 vaccines around the world.”

In the meantime, 91-year-old Margaret Keenan became the first person in the world to be given the Pfizer Covid-19 jab outside of a clinical trial.

According to a BBC report, Keenan said the shot is a “best early birthday present”.

The UK expects to dispense some “800,000 doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine in the coming weeks while some four million more are expected by the end of the month,” the BBC reported.

Hubs in the UK are starting the rollout by vaccinating the over-80 age groups and some health and care staff.

Those most vulnerable — senior citizens and healthcare workers — are presently being prioritised by the UK government.

  1. Vaccine is not a cure says:

Previous news articles the Governor stated the UK Preordered 350 million doses of AstraZeneca.
A COVID-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca in the UK has been found to be 70.4% effective in preventing the virus, final trial results show.

It should also be noted that tests by Oxford University also show that the same vaccine can be 90% effective if administered at a half dose and then at a full dose.

News of the Oxford vaccine comes just a week after two US developers — Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna announced that their vaccines were almost 95% effective in preventing the deadly COVID-19 virus now sweeping the world.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/26/coronavirus-vaccine-will-not-be-a-cure-all-virologist-warns.html

After being vaccinated, you’ll still be subject to this treatment of wearing a mask and social distancing. So why take a vaccine then?

Earlier reports also suggested that Bothe Moderna and Pfizer wasn’t transparent with their DATA and testing results. They rushed to get emergency approval from the FDA.
Yes there are alot of misinformation out there but there are also very credible people including Doctors and other Virologist saying not to take those vaccines UNTIL if it’s a must, Until there is more DATA to show the long term side effects.
These are lives they are playing with and it’s all about money.

Please refer to real and credible scientific journals and stop spreading fear and false information.

Educate yourself how vaccines work before commenting.

By the way, sciencemediacenter.org was criticized in a Nature Article in 2013 “acting more as a PR agency than as a source of accurate science information”.

Your link to medicalveritas.org leads to a video-message of Dr. Leonard Horowitz. Did you know that this guy is a white right-winger and promotes several medical conspiracy theories?

Please do your research before posting such nonsense in public.

And BVINews, maybe you should do your job by helping to avoid the spread of such false information.

The Clinical Trial for the Pfizer COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 goes on until the end of December 2020, the UK Government are basically enrolling anyone that receives the above.

Apart from the limited study time thus far (BNT162-01 Study 1 and CA4591001 Study 2), also worthy of note below is the fact that there is no study of the impact on fertility. Interestingly this is not stated in the REG 174 INFORMATION FOR UK RECIPIENTS

REG 174 INFORMATION FOR UK HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS
        4.6 Fertility, pregnancy and lactation
        Pregnancy
There are no or limited amount of data from the use of COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2.
Animal reproductive toxicity studies have not been completed. COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine
BNT162b2 is not recommended during pregnancy.

For women of childbearing age, pregnancy should be excluded before vaccination. In addition, women
of childbearing age should be advised to avoid pregnancy for at least 2 months after their second dose.

        Breast-feeding
It is unknown whether COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 is excreted in human milk. A risk to
the newborns/infants cannot be excluded. COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 should not be used
        during breast-feeding.

        Fertility
It is unknown whether COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 has an impact on fertility.

  2. Concerned says:

Last I visited Eureka I saw the freezer they keep the vaccine in and it looks like the one approved for the Pfizer vaccine. If the Oxford vaccine is not as effective as the Pfizer vaccine is there going to be a possibility to privately obtain the Pfizer vaccine?

  3. Interesting says:

General approach is to blame everything on the UK, the minute they need something they come running… and soon after they forget again…

  4. Why says:

Why are all you people concerned about the vaccine. The brilliant minds of the BVI have already said that the Covid is an attempt to wipe out the African and the vaccine is for testing in Africans. Thus, no freezers necessary unless you get big ones for bodies. The African gots the herbs, the teas and the soaking. No vaccine for the smart African

Won’t be the Moderna one as the UK didn’t pre order this one.

  6. Posted today says:

I’ve noticed that because one doesn’t agree with another person’s view they brush everything off as a conspiracy. The link provided and other articles suggest there are issues with these vaccines.
Why be so quick to demonize anyone that suggest different.
It’s anyone right to research what they re putting in their bodies.
After all scientist and Doctors aren’t always right as such why we get second opinions. There are also profits to be made in medicine and I don’t recommend anyone to be some guinea pig because the big bad COVID is gonna get yah.
When there is good science and DATA behind any product there wouldn’t be doubts…..it’s anyone choice whether they want to line up and take the vaccine, it’s their right todo so. It’s also anyone right not to do so.
Everyone these days have to be so politically correct, you can’t say this or that….Where is free speech.
I GUESS IT ALL COMES DOWN TO FEAR…

We should make sure now that we have the storage facility for the vaccine and that it is in good working condition with a back up generator!!!!

Does the BVI have the necessary equipment to safely handle the Pfizer vaccine? Mr Malone this is your question and the public is waiting for a reply.
