Dr Natalio Wheatley retains post as VIP chairman!

BVI News understands that Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has retained his post as chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP).

This follows the party’s internal elections held Sunday, February 5 when Territorial At-Large Representative Carvin Malone threw his hat in the ring to become the next chairman of the VIP.

Sources told BVI News that Dr Wheatley won by a considerable margin — 60-12 votes. This victory now positions Dr Wheatley to lead the VIP into General Elections in the coming weeks to months.

Constitutionally, general elections must be held in the territory before May 12.

Days ahead of Malone’s challenge for party chairman, he rejoined the Dr Wheatley-led Government of National Unity, which he had resigned from roughly six months ago.

VIP has 10 candidates for upcoming general elections so far

  1. Observation says:

The VIP Congress must be congratulated for their democracy. A younger Wheatley defeated an older more senior member Malone for the leadership of the organization. The VIP will come together and contest the elections. Re-wind this with the NDP. A younger Walwyn defeated an older more senior member Skelton and the party broke up with Skelton forming his own PVIM because he lost the elections.
It says a lot about the VIP structure and the future of the party and the NDP structure and lack of future because the older heads are bent sent on holding on to power.

I am not listening never again to that girl and her malicious UK shared guavaverry fb fake news that assured all that Dr. Natalio was definitely going to lose. This place just full of gossip and mischief. You really have to wait until everything done in this place to know the truth. Congrats anyway. Let’s move on.

  7. Keep Your Eye on VIP says:

The VIP has led this territory through some of the most trying times in the history of the country and have done fairly well despite the few challenges. They had to deal with all that wasn’t done from the damage of the two worse category 5 hurricanes in history. Then covid which rocked all world economies and social fabric and many more. They kept us alive and when compared to most countries big and small they have done fairly well. Congratulations.

“As it relates to the post of chairman, persons can be nominated from the floor during the time of meeting. Observers wishing to attend must send a notice to the Secretary to be included on a list. This would then need to be approved by the VIP’s executive.”

  9. Wtf says:

Carvin Malone really expected to win and be at the helm of the VIP? A man with no moralcompass.
