Drakes Traders Ltd donates over 4k KN95 masks to Health Ministry

Local home improvement store, Drakes Traders Limited has donated more than $20,000 worth of KN95 face masks to the Ministry of Health.

The sum contributed to a total of 4,500 masks being donated.

A media release from the Ministry of Health said the masks will aid the Public Health Division, “particularly the Environmental Health Unit who remains on the frontlines to inspect businesses and provide health screenings as British Virgin Islands nationals and permanent residents return back into the territory”.

Both Health Minister Carvin Malone and Chief Medical Officer Dr Irad Potter thanked Drake’s for being a good corporate citizen.

Government requires residents to wear masks in public spaces and inside businesses and other establishments as a safety measure during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thanks for the donation. Can someone help to clarify…is it mandatory to wear masks Within 6 feet of each other in public?? I do, but see some others do not. If not law, Govt should make it so especially during the repatriation of many locals now arriving and those yet to come.

4500 mask for $20,000 oh come on is this a marketing gimmick. I’m sure they buy these mask at wholesale or manufacturing price. I guess that is why their prices are so high.

As I move around town you see some people not wearing masks, and that’s ok, but when I see customers and cashiers in r*** w** all wearing masks and yet the supervisors who move amongst the people not wearing a mask I find this disrespectful. Is there an anyone that monitors the covid19 protocols? That can do something about businesses disregarding the safety of everyone? This makes me want to take my business elsewhere.

Thank you, Drakes, for your kindness to our Health Ministry. I have been asking where are the businesses to assist in this pandemic and I am proud that you have assisted in this way. As we watch the American news, we can see that the pandemic is now out of control again so we are certainly not out of the woods yet. Thank you, Drakes, and Kudos to management.
