Information reaching BVI News is that a boat seized by officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) after a high speed chase on the sea days ago has been burned at the Road Town Police Station.

Amateur footage as well as images seen by this news site show the boat, ‘Donzi’, on fire inside the compound of the police station earlier this morning, July 22.

It is not immediately clear how the perpetrators managed to gain access to the boat and what security measures were in place at the time that may have allowed the incident to occur.

Police had vessel had been seized, along with a large quantity of drugs and a firearm after police were involved in a high speed chase with two boats in the East End area.

One of the boats reportedly rammed the police vessel several times causing serious injuries to some of the officers and some level of damage to the police vessel.

Police Commissioner Mark Collins said three persons – including two males and a female – were arrested in the wake of the incident, however he said no charges have been filed to date.

BVI News will bring more details on this story as it develops.

  9. What is your reaction Governor says:

It would be very interesting to hear what explanation the Governor gives about this situation where there is an unguarded police headquarters so the this criminal behaviour can happen????

With the increase of illegal activities on the rise this is highly unacceptable Governor … Your are the head of out National Security. Please tighten these slack , incompetent faucet of Government institutions.

So many police injured and not one of the people in the illegal activities injured ? This clearly demonstrates inside workings . It must be their relative and friends so they did not have the desire to fire back… They knew who were involved. Simple maths
Then if you are chasing two boats ? How can they ram you . Except you overtake them and turn around!!!
