East End Police Station gets temporary home

Residents of the East End policing district will soon be able to access police services from a temporary location after the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) announced that officers will relocate to the East End/Long Look Community Centre while renovation works on the East End Police Station continue.

The force said the temporary closure of the police station has been extended until further notice as work on the facility remains ongoing. To maintain public access to policing services, the RVIPF has partnered with Eighth District Representative Marlon Penn, Health Minister Vincent Wheatley and the Ministry of Health and Social Development, along with the Social Development Department, to establish the temporary base.

The arrangement will take effect on Monday, July 13, when officers assigned to the East End Policing District begin operating from the community centre.

Members of the public will be able to visit the temporary location to report incidents, seek assistance or speak directly with police officers. The RVIPF said officers will also continue regular patrols throughout the district to maintain a visible presence and provide security for residents and visitors.

Persons requiring immediate police assistance may continue to contact officers directly at 368-9415 or by calling the non-emergency number, 311.

The force thanked the government agencies and elected representatives that assisted in securing the temporary accommodation, saying it appreciated their “support and collaboration in ensuring policing services remain accessible during this period,” the RVIPF stated.

The announcement follows the temporary closure of the East End Police Station in late May, when the RVIPF said the building had to be vacated to facilitate interior renovation works. At the time, police assured residents that patrols would continue and that policing services would remain operational despite the closure.

The RVIPF apologised for any inconvenience caused by the extended closure and thanked residents for their patience, understanding and cooperation while work on the East End Police Station is completed.
