Elmore Stoutt High School resumes in-person learning

After a switch to remote learning last Friday due to incidents of student misconduct, Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) has reopened for in-person classes.

The decision to temporarily close the school was made in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.

A general assembly will be held today, May 6, at 8:30am in the L Adorothy Turnbull Building courtyard to address the situation. Ministry of Education officials and other stakeholders are expected to be in attendance.

Students will be dismissed early at 3pm today, officials said. The adjusted schedule will accommodate meetings between parents and staff members identified as necessary participants in these discussions. The school administration has advised parents to check emails for notifications regarding whether they are to attend these meetings.

Transportation arrangements have also been altered to reflect the early dismissal, and parents are urged to stay informed through updates from the school.

The school expressed appreciation for the community’s support and understanding as it worked towards ensuring a safe and secure learning environment at the campus.

aka, ( ESHS ) is like a disaster waiting to happen , all it takes is for a crackhead to flip out off those pills or gummies and ride in on a scooter and start popping or flexing off heself , we already seen the kind of guns yhat these youths have in their possession (from Aladin’s jewelry store daylight robbery ) the canary on his yello site will be the first to bring the (GOD FOBID ) the deadly news , but he won’t write or comment on such a catastrophe that can happen and give an idea on preventative measures that can be put in place , instead he pushing racism narratives .morning noon & night ) is that the kind of message he sending , when he takes over from the scarecrow in the 3rd , DOSEN’T seem to be a good one, if he wants to become

  3. Student R children.. says:

No student should be given the honour or power to shut a school down..Charge all of them and take them before the court for Disorderly conduct & assault. Since the parents or the school can’t control them, let the law the court do it. In doing so yiu send a strong message to others. This behaviour will not be tolerated..

  4. Caribbean Girl says:

It will benefit to hire security guards as deterrent at the school entrance. A metal detector installed and well maintained, at entrances, is another possibility. Times have changed in the BVI and with this, mentality should change as well. As a parent, for my child safety, chipping in should not be a problem.
