Fahie wanted drug $$ for home construction, court told

Disgraced former Premier, Andrew Fahie

Jurors in the Miami, Florida drug and money laundering trial of former premier Andrew Fahie were told that he (Fahie) wanted to funnel the proceeds of his alleged drug scheme to a house he had been constructing at the time of his arrest in April 2022.

The former premier was nabbed in Miami in April 2022 after he allegedly conspired with others to allow large amounts of cocaine to pass through the BVI’s ports as part of a multi-million dollar deal he made with an undercover US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) informant who was posing as a drug trafficker at the time.

Jossue Dominguez, the undercover detective who helped to nab Fahie and his co-accused — former BVI Ports Authority Director Oleanvine Maynard — told the court that the duo was promised nearly $700,000 for their roles in the drug and money laundering scheme.

In secretly taped conversations, Fahie was heard discussing ways to disguise the funds he received from these payments as invoices related to the construction of his home in the western end of Tortola.

Fahie was reportedly heard on tape asking if a ‘cartel’ construction company could invoice him for materials, with the first instance amounting to $40,000.

An undercover confidential informant using the alias Roberto told Fahie at the time that his fictional cartel had three construction companies that were ‘fronts’ and had all kinds of materials to help out the former Premier.

The two discussed the prospect of Fahie having a line of credit with the made-up cartel construction companies to make it appear legitimate. The former Premier reportedly stated that windows, doors and tiles for his home would amount to nearly $300,000.

Fahie’s defence attorney said he never really intended to facilitate drug shipments through the territory and claimed that UK authorities were framing him to get him removed as Premier.

The trial is expected to resume on Monday, February 5.

The same UK authorities that he was calling on to do COI to hurt his political opponents turned around and set him up? Wow! Oh what tangled web we weave when at first we try to deceive.

This is sad… Mr. Fahie could have called upon a few contractors in the territory and asked kindly for assistance in completing his home and with some form of discounted payment plan. The BVI has a few genuine contractors that am sure would have been more than happy to assist him.
Where there is unity there is strength.

I would never believe that. Reason: People from his district said that he had a mortgage with Republic Bank to build his house.

Well, if that isn’t so then what was the people of the BVI dealing with when Andrew was the Premier? Can he be corrupt as some allege?

By having a mortgage, his construction affairs appear legit. The purpose of laundering money is to get rich not to build houses. The cartel would essentially be invoicing themselves through bogus transactions to make it look like the money they were getting came from Fahie’s mortgage (when it in fact came from drugs). They are hiding the original criminal source of the funds. For playing this game, headcoach would get a cut.

Yall always like to act blind. What did the Fahie administration make duty free during a pandemic when the country was shut down? Building supplies was made duty free when majority of people was not working. It is very sad state the territory is currently in.

    • @toddy says:

Well I glad you mentioned this mortgage. If it is true that he had a mortgage, it meant that the monies was already secured from the bank for construction of the house. However, construction ceased upon his arrest and the house still remains unfinished. So tell me, wouldn’t he/they still be indebted to the mortgage they signed, and the monies which was spent?

If I get an invoice for materials, am I not purchasing or paying out funds for materials? This does not coincide with receiving funds. If I am receiving funds then I invoice the construction cartel as if I was selling USED construction materials in return for $40K.

He gets the cash, pays one of the local contractor who is already in his pocket for a little work . Keeps the cash and invoice for 40k. He can then show the bank what he spent on materials.
Meanwhile he syhpons off the cash for homes in Miami under other family member names and other overseas investments.
The same contractor can also avoid paying taxes due, thus also robbing all of we

Check out BVI Beacon, they have daily updates on the case and also pics. Andrew is the same size. He isn’t worried about anything. That’s how narcissistic people behave. He strongly believes he did nothing wrong. However, the pics and tapes says different. Oh well, let’s see if he going to take the fall for all his comrades or sing like a canary. I am sure the Maynards have already sold them out.

In his own words this was not his first rodeo. Fahie was on the radar of the UK and USA anti drug squads for a long time.

These sting operations are not set up at random.

  14. Weak Lawyer. says:

Thought they say she was a good Lawyer but reading the court proceedings on the BVI beacon web she is weak, or playing Foy…Her defense is addressing a possession charge, she is focusing on drugs and or money exchange that has nothing to do with conspiracy, the conspiracy is clear and she is not addressing it.

  16. On tape says:

Huh? If you’re on tape battering these deals, how does the UK govt get the blame? They sent the DEA? And if so, clearly they knew what they were talking about!!!! His lawyer must be getting paid a BAG to jeopardize her reputation like this. Cause what???

And truly for a good while I was too caught up in such.

Sadly my former boss was caught in the midst of such lifestyle

The actually fact he stated he does not make enough money.

Then off and said you need 300k for tile, door and Windows

I’m not sure if you talking facts but if that’s the cost to building in the big whereby the items value the same as the building i can only assume you building 7 to 10 bedroom house smdh
