Fisherman fined for 12.8 grams of marijuana

Not the marijuana mentioned in the story

A 19-year-old fisherman of West End was fined $750 for having 12.8 grams of cannabis in his possession on September 17 last year.

Shakhoi McMaster pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug when he appeared before Magistrate Shawn Innocent recently.

His fine is to be paid before the end of next month or, in default, he will serve 30 days at Her Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut.

In handing down his sentence, Magistrate Shawn Innocent said McMaster’s early guilty plea and the fact that he had no previous convictions served as mitigating factors for the drug offender.

What happened

The court heard that on the day in question, police was on mobile patrol in the vicinity of Big Ben supermarket in West End.

McMaster was stopped and searched and the drugs, valued at $125, were found in his front pocket in 12 individual bags.

He was subsequently arrested and charged for the offence.

Can law enforcement stop and search without a warrant or probable cause?

If so, isn’t the abrogation of such rights against international and human rights conventions?

On point, all foresighted minds knew it would occur and it finally has:

The sole control of the huge profits from marijuana sales internationally are now in the hands of mostly American and European capitalist and their governments.

As soon as the social and political conscience shifted towards legalisation, the big capitalist governments were ready to take control of that huge business and profits, and they are.

In the VI, our government is still languishing between political prudence, social impotence and antiquated religious power structures.

In the meantime, false antiquated notions of right and or wrong and those social and religious structures are denying the territory huge influxes of needed capital.

The time has arrived for a new paradigm to be adopted that will propel worldviews , political policies and economic strategies into the twenty first century.

Legalise the seed that produces the weed and create a government owned and operated branch of economic vitality and growth.

Nothing that cometh from the earth should be classified illegal. That is simply antiquated unrefined thinking, whose net results are the negation of financial resources that are needed..

The law is the law whether you agree with it or not.
Encouraging these young men by blaming and not advising them to be law abiding and responsible and accountable is simply an underhanded way to building a larger prison.
Maybe you are a contractor trying to keep business alive or a devil’s disciple looking for souls.
Folks spewing this type of rationale is more of a danger to society than the guns or the drugs.
