Five advance to Gen Y Factor ‘Battle of the Schools’ finals

A total of five individuals have been chosen as finalists in this year’s Gen Y Factor competition — Glee Edition: ‘Battle of the Schools’ slated for August 15.

The singing competition, spearheaded by the Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, will be held at the Eileene L Parsons Auditorium at the H Lavity Stoutt Community College in Paraquita Bay.

A media release from the department said the finalists are Janique Gordon representing the H Lavity Stoutt Community College, Toriah Pryce from the Bregado Flax Educational Centre on Virgin Gorda, Tiarra Ramsarran from the St George’s Secondary School, M’Kylah Pollock from the Ciboney Centre of Excellence on Virgin Gorda, and Shakeba Pickering from the Elmore Stoutt High School.

Exciting finals coming

Patrons are told to expect an exciting competition.

“We are very pleased with the talent displayed by this year’s finalists and expect an exciting final competition. It will indeed be a Battle of the Schools,” Director of Youth Affairs & Sports, Brenda Lettsome-Tye stated. 

She further said competitors who did not go unto the final leg of the event should continue to improve their skills.

The competition, which is in its fourth year, is held for persons between the ’15 to 29′ age group and was created to “give young people an opportunity to showcase their singing ability, develop their skills and encourage them in pursuing a career”.
