Forbes pledges reliable water for D3 within 90 days of a PLM gov’t

Forbes

People’s Leadership Movement (PLM) candidate for the Third District, Clifton Forbes, has pledged to secure a consistent water supply for his district within the first 90 days of a PLM government, if the problem remains unresolved before the next general election.

Speaking at a meet-and-greet in Sea Cows Bay last Saturday, October 17, Forbes described the district’s water situation as an emergency and promised to work with his party’s team to address it.

“I will work with my team to ensure that water flows consistently to the people of my district within the first 90 days of a PLM government,” Forbes said. “It must be resolved urgently. I trust that it will be resolved before the next election.”

Forbes’ commitment follows a similar pledge by PLM leader Mark Vanterpool. Just last month, Vanterpool promised a new water plant in Sea Cows Bay within three months of his party winning office, reducing the area’s dependence on the Paraquita Bay facility.

Vanterpool said moving water across the mountain to Sea Cows Bay had remained a persistent challenge. He advocated desalination plants serving individual districts and identified container-sized units as an option.

Forbes did not outline the technical arrangements or costs of delivering his 90-day commitment during Saturday’s address. At the outset, he told supporters that he would present fuller details of his district proposals later.

Beyond water, he identified affordable and accessible healthcare, education and employment opportunities among his priorities. He also called for urgent action on smoke, garbage and derelict vehicles in the Third District.

“I am committed to working with experts, community leaders, and stakeholders to develop practical and innovative solutions,” Forbes said.

Forbes told supporters that he retired from public service in 2019 and entered the construction industry after a career in technical and vocational education. He also outlined his involvement in youth sport, cultural activities and community clean-ups.

“I want to improve water services, support families in need, and make our district a place where everyone is seen and valued,” he told the gathering.

My former Auto teacher, don’t make promises you can’t keep, the grasshopper who is the head of your party was minister for 8 years and did nothing to improve the water situation in the territory, it will take more than 90 days to get a full assessment of the situation. What you can say is temporary solutions will be considered in the 90 days, so please, Stop it!

It’s an easy fix, just do some simple research. A water plant can be commissioned in a matter of weeks. All they need to do is replace the plant that was across from Fraser Inc., recommission the distribution from the BVIEC operation and upgrade the plant in Apple Bay, problem solved.

  9. Yes! Mark tis, says:

The residents of the 3rd should have already taken to the streets and demand the government to restore consistent basic water supply long ago.

These basic utilities: electricity, water, etc., are today accepted and must be demanded as part of our basic human and civil rights.

We accept too little from our government and that is why we are being taken advantage of, year in, year out.

This Must Stop! We Must Demand More from Our Elected Representatives! If They Can’t Deliver, Kick Them Out!

Why do we have to be pushed to the point of no return, like France now in crisis.

We Must Demand More. Demand Action! Elections Do Matter!

Doesn’t D3 need a Race Track paid for with Forbes own money before we start worrying about water, roads, crime, missing schools, lack of ambulances, and hospital equipment and a missing roof and missing $millions.
