Four inmates were stabbed! Deceased victim identified

Nickail Chambers being escorted from the Magistrate’s Court on a previous occasion.

The minister responsible for prison, Carvin Malone has confirmed Nickail Chambers as the inmate who died from stab wounds during an incident at the Her Majesty’s Prison around 6:30 pm on Sunday, May 30.

Chambers was among a total of four prisoners stabbed during what Malone said was a “violent altercation among several persons incarcerated” at the facility.

“Three of the four inmates sustained serious stab wounds and were taken to the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital for urgent medical treatment … Chambers subsequently died in hospital,” Malone said in an official statement 11:21 pm on Sunday.

Arrest

“I have been informed by the Acting Superintendent of Prisons, Mr Royston Percival that all prisoners have been confined to their cells while the matter is being investigated by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, and one inmate has been formally charged in relation to this matter,” the minister said while extending condolences to the family of the deceased.

Chambers, a Jamaican, was serving time at the prison for his one-man role in the attempted murder of his former schoolmate back in 2017.

It was in July 2019 that he was sentenced to 11 years and three months for ‘use of firearm with intent to endanger life’ and 10 years for the murder attempt.

At the time, the court ruled for his sentences to run concurrently; which would have seen him spend no more than 11 years and three months incarcerated.

And Mr Governor and Mr Minister…where is the CCTV footage of the incident? Bet you may find none cos of all places y’all ain’t got CCTV cameras there. That place should be teeming with CCTV cameras….y’all need to be sued….especially the former Governor because that was one of his main responsibility. The prisoners and corrupt guards know y’all ain’t serious….too much corruption, contraband and occult up in there. Purge the prison please. Guy if you ain’t a mason you going need a whole lotta prayers.

THE WHOLE PRISON SYSTEM IS CROCKED, WHY DO YOU THINK IT IS CALLED THE HOLIDAY INN ON THE HILL. THE FEMALE AND MALE OFFICERS HAVE A HAREM GOING ON, NOTHING BUT A F**K FEST IN THAT PLACE. WHY IS INMATES ALLOWED TO WALK AROUND WITH GOLD AROUND THEIR NECKS AND THE LATEST FASHION, CAPS ON THEIR HEADS WHERE WEAPONS CAN BE HIDDEN. THERE IS NO LAW AND ORDER UP AT THE HOLIDAY INN ON THE HILL. THE INMATES RUN AND CONTROL THE PRISON. MOST OF THE OFFICERS ARE GETTING PAID OFF BY INMATES FOR FAVORS. PLEASE DONOT TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY BUT THE DISTRICT REP THAT HOST THE PRISON LUNCHEON, LOOK SO UNPROFESSIONAL POSING WITH INMATES DRIPPING IN JEWELRY AND STREET CLOTHES. WHY IS INMATES NOT WEARING A PRISON ISSUE UNIFORM.

  17. BVI Future says:

A jail/prison is managed by the prison superintendent and funded by the government- the taxpayers. A jail/prison is managed to correct and to rehabilitate those who are incarcerated.
    Poor management. Poor organizational leadership.
If I were in prison, I would want to wear a gold chain too, because a gold chain can be used as a weapon and asphyxiate someone.
Cell phones can be used to organize a riot inside of the prison.
Those who are incarcerate in that prison have too much freedom.
I am not surprised this did not happen more often; since, families and friends can take things freely into that prison. But who cares when young Black men have the open opportunity to kill each other!
That family can sue, and the taxpayers will pay for that too.

Whether you are white, Black, UK, US SA or other, do be forthwith informed, we are not living in the 11th and 12th centuries.

There are soveriegn, rights to self determination, human, political and other rights to be taken into deep consideration before marching in and taking over.

The Black mind is not a docile one as some might want to believe.
