Foxy’s Old Year’s Night event to potentially feature on CNN, business operational again

Theresa ‘Tessa’ Callwood

Talks are being had to potentially have Foxy’s Tamarind Bar on Jost Van Dyke featured on international media giant CNN for their upcoming Old Year’s Night party that is held annually.

This is according to co-owner Theresa ‘Tessa’ Callwood who also outlined what she said are major plans for the establishment now that the business has reopened.

The local Health Department briefly ordered Foxy’s closed due to a sewerage issue which Callwood alleged was an act of sabotage engineered by a former operations director at the establishment.

“We’ve fixed everything, the Health people came and they were fine. They gave us a pass on everything. We’re back up and we’re ready to go,” she told BVI News.

The potential CNN feature

As for the feature on the international media, Callwood said: “We’ve had news from the BVI Tourist Board that CNN is interested in making us like a partner for their New Year’s Eve event that they broadcast and we’re looking to have a large party.”

Foxy’s is known for having one of the largest New Year’s Eve parties in the region and Callwood said plans are being finalised this year’s event.

“We’re hoping to hire Kymani Marley and we have a lineup that hasn’t been totally verified as yet but it will be great as usual,” Callwood stated.

Some of the other events slated for the remainder of 2019 include a Halloween party, the traditional Cat Fight Regatta and a Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner event.

Tessa always ran the business since she was capable as business manager. Same thing in many BVI businesses. Look at Myetts CGB; Marina Cay, Bath and Turtle VG, Cooper Island, Pirates Bight, Willie T. The list goes on… Certainly not saying Caribbean locals not a major part but truth is truth.
