Gas station, marina, increased business spaces to be developed in Fish Bay

The Skelton Lot in Fish Bay, Tortola.

A marina, gas station, and more rental spaces are to be created in Fish Bay, Tortola for business development.

CEO of the Skelton Group of companies Ronnie Skelton — a former legislator — told BVI News on Friday that plans for expansion as it relates to increase rental spaces are already underway.

“Right now we are creating about 24 spaces. We are building it so that people can rent them at low cost for their businesses,” he said.

“We don’t have a number as yet but we intend to do the immediate expansion within the next 18 months put an additional $2 million in capital expansion.”

He further said the new gas station will be developed at the location. He explained that the land for the development was leased to private individuals.

Marina also among plans

Commenting on the development of a marina at the location, Skelton said: “Right now we have sufficient lands that we are going to expand on [but] we made an application for some reclamation to see if we can get a long-term development like a marina where mega yachts can dock.”

He said the company is hoping to reclaim between two and four acres of land between the next two and five years.

Beautiful. I wish the Skelton Group all the very best in their endeavors. One thought. It would be really nice if you can plant a few trees throughout the area. I will help with the ambience and the environment as well. All the best.

If any more land is ‘reclaimed’ in Fish Bay then Fish Bay will no longer exist. This planned reclamation reminds me of Baughers Bay back in the 80’s.

2-4 acres? Really? A reliable source told me it was 8 which would make fish bay stick out and be a break water for Road Town. Basically that pile of earth is going to end up in the sea? Let’s all make Tortola bigger by digging out the hills and dropping in the sea! The whole place will be under water in the next 40 years.

That doesn’t make sense. If you remove the hills and put them in the sea the land will be level with the sea, not below it. You’d have to keep digging after the hills were removed to do that. Honestly, some people just don’t think things through.

      • think about it... says:

Sea levels are rising. So level now = underwater in 40 years. There are some islands in the Pacific which can help educate on this point — the sea has already encroached on homes and land.

The Gas Station doesn’t belong to Skelton’s, you only leased the land, so why mention it as if you have something to do with the investment.

The STRUPES read but it doesn’t say what they want, so they ignore it and post rubbish. SMH this is why recovery slow. Geniuses like these typing nonsense instead of picking up the islands. Watch soon they cry no tourism comes to the islands THEY won’t help repair

Fish Bay is the wrong place for a mega yacht marina. It needs to be between the ferry dock and QE2 Park where the board walk is supposed to run
