Gov’t awards 52 students scholarships to study abroad

Education Minister Dr Natalio Wheatley photographed signing a document.

Fifty-two persons have been granted government scholarships to study abroad.

The Cabinet approved the recommendations of the BVI Scholarship Committee to award these scholarships when they met this month.

The government will fund the tuition for these 52 applicants for the period commencing Fall 2021 to Spring 2022.

“This government has restarted the Scholarships Abroad programme that was left dormant since Irma and Maria,” Premier Andrew Fahie boasted in a statement this week.

“This has allowed scores of our young people to further their tertiary education so that they can return to the BVI and strengthen our human capital and our Virgin Islands economy,” he said.

Keep them out of the USA. Enough Belonger deadbeats already there leaving behind huge debts and loans unpaid. Come for free education and then go back and become wicked and crooked politicians. What an evil people.

What an evil comment coming out of an evil soul. If they are American born they are no different from students of all races who are overwhelmed by the cost of higher education. Often times the income after graduation doesn’t support paying living expenses and student loans.

If they have full bvi scholarships there shouldn’t be a need for financial aid, but unfortunately some will fleece the system. Still no need for your hateful comments.

American born, but has never returned to the US since birth. All these foreigners coming to the US to have American born babies.
There should be a law to revoke citizenship if you do not live in the USA.

If you check the names on that list, they’d be mostly northerners.

    • Public Disclosure says:

Maybe there is no list or is it a listing of ambiguity.
We have not been privy to any lists of publicly funded bank accounts of private citizens.
This list, the farmers and fishermen stimulus list. Minister responsible for those areas has been silent not even a seconding of the news
I am wary of statements made by Premier Fahie. His record of honesty is dismal. I would rely on at least a confirmation.
